Where to find Ground Locations

I'm trying to find a good ground location behind the glove box. I'm hard wiring a GMRS radio. The only locations I can access that look good are existing ground locations that already have ground wires attached for factory electronics. Can I share these ground bolts or is that a bad idea? Should I try to hook up accessories to their own ground locations?

I've done a ton of Googling, but oddly I can't find much info.

I wouldn’t be afraid of sharing a ground location. Any unpainted metal that bolts to the body will work fine. I’m not sure what’s behind the glove box but plenty of bare metal under the steering wheel.

Yep. No such thing as too much grounding. If it's a bolt going into the frame or body, it's a ground location. Don't be afraid of grounding off an existing ground point as long as you use the proper connector and you don't damage the existing ground when tightening back up. Use a spade or ring connector and you'll be fine.

The only exception would be a bolt going into a threaded fitting that is in plastic.. but the only one of those I've found is the BYOD rail area.

Anyone found a good one in the area near the passenger visor, where the pre-run aux switch wire is? I'm not going to do a light bar so figured I'd use that to hard wire my dash cams. I haven't fully torn it apart yet, just removed the visor and I don't really see any good grounding spots. I need to find out how to remove the switches and plastic trim around that area and look for one there.

Share away, my friend. Having a couple ground wires on one bolt will not hurt it.

I haven't fully torn it apart yet, just removed the visor and I don't really see any good grounding spots. I need to find out how to remove the switches and plastic trim around that area and look for one there.

It may be easier to tap the mirror power, unless you specifically want your dash cam on a switch.

I run my radar detectors off the mirrors power and ground with no issues.
