This just came off one of my wheels, but I’m not sure what it is. Each wheel has one on the inside on the inner lip between the wheel and tire. Is it a wheel weight?

Speaking of... those with a Black Diamond, notice the wheel weights are installed on the outside of the wheel from the factory, instead of on the inside!? At least on mine they are. FUGLY.

It's a clip on thingy that used to be made out of lead and steel. It is now made of a magical earth friendly material.

You're showing your age.
They are clip on rim weights. That's what steel wheels have used for several decades.

They do that on the steel wheels, Black Diamond (standard) and Base. I guess they think it looks more legit that way. Old school.

Yep wheel weights. I had my aftermarket wheels mounted and balanced prior to my Bronco arriving and twice the wheel weights fell off just sitting in my shop. Guys that balanced them said they had been having problems with the tape. They made it right.

I had new tires mounted this week, and some of my weights simply fell off before I even got them out of the back of my truck. But that was due to the tire monkey just wiping the inside of my wheels with a dry rag, rather than actually cleaning the area before attaching the weights. I fixed it myself, but it was annoying…

Steel wheels. That's where they've always gone. Most days I don't even notice mine.

Probably the issue with mine too. The first time I couldn’t tell which wheel they fell off of so I had them rebalance the set. Second time I could and I just cleaned and reinstalled. I put a lot of pressure on all of them making sure they were stuck. I also marked the location with a sharpie just in case they fell off again. 5k later and smooth as butter.

I understand on the steel wheels. I thought maybe they can go on the back side where you can’t see them.

I noticed my SAS tires have those clip on wheel weights(inside rim mount) AND the sticker weights.

Edit, found Ebay pic showing both

Dynamic balancing (Wheel weights on the inside AND outside of the wheel) is the best way to balance a wheel and tire however some consider visible weights to be unsightly.
