Part of it was having things on your order that had part shortages (Sasquatch, 2Door, Base, Hard Top, Lux Package, Tow Package .. I'm sure I am missing some) ...

But the big thing was dealer allocations, which were set based on previous year sales (or something like that) and made no sense to the consumer. Basically dealers were only allocated a certain amount of Broncos per some timeframe and the dealer would never tell the customer. So you pick a small dealer that didn't have a lot of allocations but took a lot of Bronco orders, you had that PLUS the part shortages working against you.

Basically ALL the stars had to align for your order to get scheduled ... the dealer had to have an available allocation and all the parts had to be available. If neither of those were met, regardless of how long you had been waiting, they'd move on. And the kicker was .. you couldn't move your order to another dealership with more allocations, unless you were willing to cancel and re-order.

You could (and were encouraged both by Ford and Dealerships) drop the constrained items from your order to hopefully bump you up and increase your probability of getting scheduled .. but again, no guarantee. It even got to the point where they were sending out messages like, " DROP your constrained items or risk having to re-order if your rig doesn't get scheduled by such and such date and lose ALL price protection."

And how did we make it bearable you ask? ... We didn't ... again I say, "We drove ourselves crazy" lol
Yeah, all of that is pretty much what the ai said... I can imagine that the demand after 25 years was crazy! So sorry that you guys had to go through that, though I suspect it helped make a tighter bond in the community, not to mention the appreciation when it finally arrived. ;)

Yeah pent up demand for a new Bronco is a big part of it. I know I wanted Ford to make a new Bronco since like 1999.

Then as @Dantastic said, there were all kinds of constraints and problems that limited what Ford could build. E.g. they only build up to 33% of vehicles with trailer tow option. The hard top had all kinds of quality problems so Ford suggested 4-door customers order the soft-top or else they may wait a long time. For 2-door customers, there is no soft-top option so they had to wait until supplier could deliver an acceptable hardtop - probably with careful and slower manufacturing, inspection, and sorting.

Also i think Ford underestimated the demand for many options like Sasquatch. Ford predicts a certain take rate of different options which suppliers use to size their production capacity, and suppliers may not be able to supply parts when there is gross underestimation. Mix rate of options also affects CAFE planning. Manual transmission and Sasquatch tires or high-content vehicles like Badlands (higher curb weight) has lower fuel economy so selling too many Broncos with those options could be a problem for the CAFE budget. So these part constraints for various reasons and the high demand made Ford encouraged customers with incentives to drop options like Lux package, Sasquatch, Trailer Tow and hard-top or risk waiting a loooong time.

I get the impression many of the folks, like you guys, that waited 2+ years did not give on the options you wanted.

I appreciate the detailed info above and in Dantastic's post above that. It sure does sound like the perfect storm of circumstances ...

I just got the email 5 mins ago that my Bronco is scheduled for Aug 18. I was reading in the other forums about expected delays for MTs and for exhausted supply of shadow black hard tops so I'm not holding my breath ... ;)

yeah I didn’t get Heritage, aux switches or roof rack but never gave up on 2dr, Sasquatch, or 2.7 along with not any of the ugly grays/blues…

I had a 911 as a daily driver since 1999. First a 1990 C4 Cab and then in 2010 I sold that and bought an '06 C2S. Lots of track time, airport runs and everything else. Was time to sell the '06, with 125k miles. I put over 100k miles on each of those cars. Since the kids are all out of high school and the house - mostly, also selling the extra vehicle - 2014 Suburban - which is also past its prime. We had 2 Suburbans - an '04 bought new and sold in '14 with ~150k miles, and then the '14 which I bought usend in Nov '14 with 30k miles, about to sell with ~150k miles. So we keep cars for a long time!
Essentially selling / sold the 997 and the Suburban to buy a new Bronco. Needing the sale price of those 2 old cars plus~$10k cash to cover the full cost of a '25 Big Bend with some nice options, and of course a manual tranny. Both 911s were sticks and I've had a bunch ever since my first car - '69 bug. It's been a long wait for my special order Bronco and should arrive in a week or so.

Kind've lost me in the forrest on what you've got, but man that 90' looks sharp! Hope you still have it? Probably capable of funding some retirement accounts by now!

Sorry for going in circles. Short story - just sold a 2006 911 to help fund the new Bronco - on order. When the Bronco arrives, I'll also sell the Suburban. Going from 2 vehicles to one.
Previously owned a '90 911, but sold that when I bought the '06. Thx - it was a sharp car but I sold it before the values took off like a rocketship.

There is a dealership near my house that specializes in the 911. Finds them anywhere in the world, rebuilds them back to new, and makes a mint on them. I took my 17 year old son down there a few weeks ago (for giggles) and saw this one. Funny enough....the salesman was all over the bronco. It would be like trading in a Cessna for Airwolf. But just something about the bronco that brings out the nostalgia in folks!

2011 Ford Edge Limited which I still have after over 14 years. Was gonna sell it but it isn't worth much and needs new wheels, tires and a PTC leak fix along with a new battery but it hauled my fam for such a long time it makes sense to hand it over to a new generation.

Detailed and ceramic coated it so it feels smooth like baby.

I had a 2002 S2000. Loved that bad boy, but upkeep was getting too much and I could only drive it a few months out of the year in the PNW. That didn't mean I never dropped the top on a clear but freezing cold day in January.

I only got cold when I slowed down!

The Bronco replaced a 2012 BMW X5 with over 110K miles. Given the reputation that BMWs have, it was surprisingly reliable during my ownership of it. Much more reliable than a Ford F150 we owned that had the same mileage when we got rid of it.

The other picture is of the Bronco's garage mates. A 2012 Lingenfelter modified CTS-V coupe (630 hp) and a 2016 Stage 3 Phase 2 Roush Mustang convertible (727 hp).

FJ was purchased in 2007 and was a solid rig.

The `22 Jeep had issues within the first year.

Bottomline, I couldn't be happier with my Bronco 🖤
