I've read through a lot of the threads on the B&O and non B&O systems lacking, while I do agree. I've found that using lossless files from an USB hard drive resulted in better performance from the (B&O) system then carplay and siriusXM. Anyone else find this and what source do you use for audio poll above.

I use XM and CarPlay via apple.
The CarPlay is going to be better, if you're downloading the lossless files and not streaming them like XM would be, I'm assuming they compress the audio signal in someway for broadcast.

instead of using a USB stick, i have a large cap. iPhone and i download all my apple music directly to it, in lossless format.

Also I use both wired and wireless carplay depending on the drive and how long its gonna be.

I used carplay wireless with lossless files and found it to have less definition and overall sound stage than my current 2TB hard drive setup. I have about 1.4 TB of lossless music (~35,000 files) that I run on shuffle. So my 256GB Iphone isn't going to cut other than my favorite songs playlist that's on it. The unfortunate thing is I tried a 2TB SSD but the USB C port in the center console can't power it, so I'm stuck with a mechanical hard drive.

Tried my 2TB ipod classic running on SD cards, the USB port couldn't power it, don't have a USB C to 30 pin cable to try the USB C.
Also Tried my Fiio M11 running on 2 1TB SD cards, but the Sync system will only index the first SD card.

SiriusXM.

I used to be big into music and have about a terabyte of lossless audio at my disposal. BUT these days I have absolutely zero desire to manage my own music library.

Bronco is my first satellite-capable vehicle, and honestly I didn't expect to use SiriusXM beyond that initial trial period. But I actually like it a lot. Sometimes the bitrate is just horrifically low, so I assume they're using a variable bitrate that depends on satellite position, demand, weather, etc. Normally doesn't bother me enough to do anything about it, but on the days I decide to care I just switch over to the SiriusXM mobile app via CarPlay.

Ha! Same here. I realized I was spending more time manipulating files and storing data than just listening. I reupped my Sirius/XM subscription (@$5.99/mo.) and probably listen to Satellite 70% of the time. The remaining is via wired car play from my iPhone 15. Sound quality seems best (not good, but in comparison) via wired CarPlay playing lossless Apple files. But Sirius isn’t that far off, the stock Bronco system can’t handle a lot of dynamic range at significant volume anyway, in some cases I think the compression on XM is beneficial on a low-fi system like the stock Bronco. Upgrades are in planning so that may change but the Ford head unit will still be a weak link.

In order of most used - Amazon Music via Android Auto, USB Drive with old school vinyl that was ripped to CD and then SXM.

Amazon Music. Good hifi, lots of listening options. Have had Sirius/XM for years. For news and sports it's great. Music choices are too limited. I'm enjoying Amazon Music.
