The volume control was working fine when I got home. Woke up the next morning, started the Bronco up, and it won’t work anymore. No matter which way I turn the knob it just sits at zero like in the below picture. I have tried adjusting it on the dash and steering wheel. It doesn’t matter if I use CarPlay, FM/AM radio, or SiriusXM. I tried doing the Sync reset and even unhooking the negative terminal of the battery and rebooking it back up. Nothing has worked. Did I blow a fuse or something?

Hmm

Could be your APIM or the physical control is bad - but have you tried just hitting the power button? Also make sure your phone is ~not~ connected when trying this out.

The power button doesn't really turn anything off, it just sets the volume to zero and pauses whatever is playing if it isn't radio.

I don't hold high hopes, as you've already reset everything, but it's one last quick and easy thing to check before taking it into the dealer.

Any aftermarket audio mods or anything?? Tends to happen when the ACM detects a short and goes into some sort of (what I assume to be a) protection mode. And usually if that happens it's because someone did an audio upgrade incorrectly or a wire came loose.

Yep. I have tried everything I can think of. Even called the Ford tech line and we did all of the trouble shoots over the phone. Nothing worked. I have an appointment with the dealership. Unfortunately the earliest day they had is September 3rd. Luckily, I bought that 100,000 mile extended warranty that the one dealership was selling on this forum at a great discount. It should cover any repairs or replacement needed.

Mine does this every few months. Just reset the head unit (power + forward track button), and reconnect your phone.
Tried that several times. Hasn’t worked. :(

Aftermarket speakers. Replaced the front and back ones. The back ones are 6.5 inches now also. It was years ago I did that though.

Have Forscan or any OBDII code reader??

Wondering if the ACM is chunking out errors for us to read.

Finally got it looked at today. There’s a part they have to order for it to fix the issue. Will take a month to get it in. Completely covered under my warranty thankfully.

If you are able can you post the part they are ordering? May have to wait until the work order is complete. Would help if anyone else gets this issue and isn't covered under warranty

I think I have the same issue, experiencing the same symptoms and tried all the same fixes to no joy. I think my warranty ran out a few months ago which is just peachy.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to post up what (I thought)worked for me to fix this as I have had this issue recently. I had tried all reset options, pulled fuses, battery cables , factory reset, etc.

The Fix (not):
While audio was “playing” (volume still stuck at zero) I went in to settings, sound, speed compensated volume, and changed it to “off”. Immediately got sound.

So yea sound came back but.... no bass and some speakers not working at all. Pretty sure the amp is crap. Was in a hurry when I figured out the bit above, wasn't until next day when I actually drove it that I could tell it wasn't right. So to the dealer I go... yay!
