Yes! If you have provided the correct VIN, then it’s all on the insurance company. My insurance declaration page indicates Bronco Base (IIRC). I have a Badlands SAS, Lux, 2.7, Advanced.

Some insight into this… my brother-in-law works for Travelers so I asked him about it a few years ago.

Insurance is coded by the standard option of every trim. The Badlands is the first trim in the lineup that comes with Advanced 4x4 as a standard option. So if your vehicle comes up as having the Advanced 4x4 transfer case (which is coded as an AWD vehicle and not 4x4)… many insurance companies will just label it as “Badlands”. Likewise, if you have the part-time transfer case, it is coded a 4x4 vehicle, and it’ll often get labeled as “Base” even if you have BB, BL or OBX.

This is all because for Ford makes no distinction between trims in their VIN numbers. The only distinction is the engine and whether it is AWD or 4x4. (Edit— And number of doors.)

I thought the VIN does indicate trim level - the 5,6,7 positions of the VIN will be E5A, E5B, E5C, E5D etc...my Braptor is E5J looking at the Order guide though it seems like there arre multiple codes available at each trim level - so I can see how it makes it hard for DMV or Insurance to tell what is what.

● Base — Body Code: E5A, E5B, E5C, E5D — Order Code:101A ● Big Bend™ — Body Code: E5A, E5B, E5C, E5D — Order Code: 221A, 222A ● Black Diamond™ — Body Code: E5A, E5B, E5C, E5D — Order Code: 321A, 322A ● Outer Banks™ — Body Code: E5A, E5B, E5C, E5D — Order Code: 312A, 313A, 314A ● Badlands™ — Body Code: E5C, E5D — Order Code: 331A, 332A, 333A, 334A ● Wildtrak™ — Body Code: E5C, E5D — Order Code: 352A, 353A, 354A ● Everglades — Body Code: E5D — Order Code: 922A ● Raptor — Body Code: E5J — Order Code: 373A, 374A

Timely thread. I noticed this on my insurance card last week. I have a Basequatch and it shows as an Outer Banks.

My Illinois title has ...
Make: Ford
Model: Bronco Base

Odd that the trim level is included in the Model name, none of my other vehicles have that listed.

I think each insurance company handles a different. My policy (after reading all the comments above I had to check) shows that mine is just listed as a 2024 Ford bronco.

The vehicle is actually a Badlands bronco. The insurance company must get additional information on the features of the vehicle from another source as they told me that I had adaptive cruise control, BLIS, and other features that are all part of the Luxe package that had an impact (reduction) of my insurance premiums. As far as I’m aware, the Vin number does not tell you much about the packages that were added to the vehicle.

I would not be surprised if Ford and other manufacturers did not provide more detailed information to insurance companies than just what’s in the VIN.

Just my supposition, does anyone know if this is true or not true?

My badlands comes up as a big bend. Not sure if it matters too much. Even at resale, it’s clearly a badlands, sticker aside.

Mine says Ford Bronco on insurance card, but says Bronco Sport WG in declaration. VIN is correct.
