some locksmith said its 180 bucks because he needs to get a code from Ford? and they charge him $100 for it? is this bullshit? i thought this blade key was purely mechanical?

If you bought your Bronco new the dealership should have given you the code (small little plastic strip with your key) to cut the key. No chip. We can’t give the code to anyone but the owner so I don’t know about the charge. Also, some places can just put the one from your remote in the key cutter to copy ( ours does).

Mission accomplished. Found a locksmith that did it for me for 65. He said all those others were fucking with me lol. He has the cutter and the blanks. After he traced the blade he told me the code and he said you only need that if you don't want me to trace it. Cut the blank and I was good to go.

I take out the key when I have to valet, I just give the fob so nobody can get into the glove box or center concel. When I travel, I always have my firearm, if I can't take it in with me, it's locked in the center concel.
I just use ford pass to lock, unlock, start, etc my Bronco. Ford Pass is handy at the beach when I don't want to take the keys also....
