Hi All,

First Post ever....

I have a 2026 Outer Banks 2.7L that originally came with the standard 3-function Hero Switch panel: Hazards, Traction Control, and Trail Turn Assist.

I have already replaced it with the 6-switch OEM panel, SW9161 / M2DZ-13D730-CB, and my original three functions still work normally.

My long-term plan is to retrofit a factory-style M220 rear e-locker and M210 front e-locker, and eventually the electronic sway-bar disconnect.

What I’m trying to avoid is simply wiring the lockers to the overhead AUX switches. I’d like the retrofit to work as close to OEM as possible, using the Rear Locker and Front Locker buttons on the Hero Switch panel.

Has anyone successfully done this on a Bronco that did not originally come with factory lockers?

Specifically, I’m trying to understand:
  • Which control module actually receives the Hero Switch locker-button inputs?
  • Does the switch communicate through the BCM/GWM/CAN network, or is there a direct locker-control circuit?
  • Were any additional modules required?
  • Did you need a different wiring harness?
  • What FORScan/as-built changes were required?
  • Did the IPC correctly show the locker status afterward?
  • Were there any issues with ABS/4WD logic, speed restrictions, or interlocks?
If anyone has wiring diagrams, as-built comparisons from a factory Sasquatch/Badlands, connector pinouts, or a successful retrofit write-up, I’d really appreciate it.

To clarify: I already know the lockers can be powered through AUX switches. I’m specifically looking for an OEM-style integration using the factory Hero Switch locker buttons and factory control logic.

You mean the buttons on the dashboard? I don't know anyone has figured that out. Those are computer I/O inputs, not true hardwired switches, so it would involve how the programming works in your Bronco and I think that's made it a major stumbling block and why most (all?) people just use aux switches.

With all the work it'd entail, you might just get another Bronco with Sas, but I assume you won't want to hear that.

Even factory, those buttons are gated by the drivetrain logic. On mine the rear only arms in 4H/4L, front is 4L only, and both drop out around 20 mph. That interlock lives in the 4WD module, not the switch panel.
