Group,
It is very unnerving to see my transmission temperature higher than engine coolant temperature on a 8 mile drive to work.. I’m old school and transmission temperature was safe under 175 degrees.. If you kept them below this temperature and well filtered they could last three times as long..

Is about 190 degrees normal? Is there a "normal" range?

As of 15 years ago, Ford service manuals instructed techs to get transmission temperature up to AT LEAST 180 degrees as “nominal operating temp” before expecting/judging proper behavior and shifting. That was 15 years ago.

Literally hundreds of thousands of F150s work hard every day hauling and towing in all sorts of extreme conditions for hundreds of thousands of miles without any issue (including mine, regularly towing a big boxy 8,000 lb trailer in hot desert southwest summers, as well as up big nasty steep Rocky Mountain passes and roads.).

So try this: Put a transmission temperature gauge on your other vehicles, then report back to us.

I drive mine like I stole it most of the time and highway speeds where I live are 85-90 average… mine regularly gets over 200 not by a whole lot but definitely over
