Alright... 2023MY time!

If any of this is wrong please let me know ASAP. I don't want to add to the confusion.

I want to stress that the information in this post is
only valid for those taking delivery on a 2023MY Bronco, and is NOT valid for 2022MY Broncos nor will it be valid for a 2024MY Bronco.

ARE YOU TAKING DELIVERY OF A 2022MY?
You're in the wrong place. Check out the 2022MY Price Protection Thread.

IMPORTANT JULY 26TH, 2023 UPDATES

Ford implemented yet another (and hopefully last) price increase for the 2023MY Bronco on July 26th, 2023 (LINK). These price increases, combined with the Job 2 changes and existing February 10th, 2023 price increases, the March 15th, 2023 price increases, and the April 6th, 2023 price increases, has dramatically increased the complexity of price protection for 2023MY units, especially when combined with the $2500 order transition offer that was introduced in mid-January 2023.

Due to the mid-year price increases, there is now two forms of price protection:
  • Model Year Transition Private Offer - This price protection is delivered via private offer certificates in Smart VINCENT under Pgm #38644. It is design to protect price increases for those who have been bump from the 2021/2022 model years to the 2023 model year.
    • Your price protection amount is determined by what you had on order as as of September 9th, 2022.
    • You and/or your dealer may decide to apply this certificate to the final selling of the Bronco, or may wait to receive a check from Ford.
  • Retail Price Protection - This price protection is automatic across all retail-ordered Ford vehicles, and is designed to protect you from any mid-year (within the 2023 model year) price increases Ford implements.
    • Feb 10th, 2023
      • This protection is available to anyone who had an 2023MY order placed prior to February 10th, 2023.
      • The amount is based on what you had on order as of February 9th, 2023.
      • If you change (or already changed) your order after this date, you may lose this protection if your body code changes. More information on that below.
    • Mar 15th, 2023
      • This protection is available to anyone who had an 2023MY order placed prior to March 15th, 2023.
      • The amount is based on what you had on order as of March 14th, 2023.
      • If you change (or already changed) your order after this date, you may lose this protection if your body code changes. More information on that below.
    • Apr 10th, 2023
      • This protection is available to anyone who had an 2023MY order placed prior to April 10th, 2023.
      • The amount is based on what you had on order as of April 9th, 2023.
      • If you change (or already changed) your order after this date, you may lose this protection if your body code changes. More information on that below.
    • June 30th, 2023
      • This protection is available to anyone who had an 2023MY order placed prior to June 30th, 2023.
      • The amount is based on what you had on order as of June 29th, 2023.
      • If you change (or already changed) your order after this date, you may lose this protection if your body code changes. More information on that below.
    • July 26th, 2023
      • This protection is available to anyone who had an 2023MY order placed prior to July 26th, 2023
      • The amount is based on what you had on order as of July 26th, 2023
      • If you change (or already changed) your order after this date, you may lose this protection if your body code changes. More information on that below.
    • If you qualify for one or both of these price protections your dealer should take the amounts off the final selling price of the vehicle. However, some dealers have opted to wait until they are reimbursed by Ford before providing this price protection. Either way, you will NOT receive a check from Ford for Retail Price Protection, it comes from your dealer.
JOB 2 PRICE PROTECTION

This price protection accounts for the Job 2 production changes made by Ford. The amount and type of price protection is dependent on which trim you ordered:
  • Base / Big Bend
    • This only applies to order holders who originally ordered cloth seats and had their order changed to vinyl due to the Job 2 changes.
    • It is only applicable to order holders who originally ordered prior to May 15th, 2023.
    • The price protection come in the form of retail price protection directly from your dealer, similar to other mid-year price increases.
  • Outer Banks / Wildtrak
    • This only applies to order holders who originally ordered cloth seats and had their order changed to leather due to the Job 2 changes.
    • It is only applicable to order holders who originally ordered prior to March 27th, 2023.
    • This comes in the form of a private offer certificate in Smart VINCENT, similar to the model year transition private offer.
  • All other trims
    • Not applicable
WINDOW STICKER INVOICE DATE INFO

The window sticker invoice date is effectively the date the assembly plant receives the order for scheduling. It is usually the same date the window sticker is generated—roughly a week before your scheduled build date. This date determines the price level of the vehicle, and therefore your eligibility for retail price protection.

1678888932104.png

For example, say a window sticker for a particular vehicle is generated and has an invoice date of February 2nd, with a build date of February 13th. Because that vehicle was invoiced by the assembly plant prior to the February 10th price increases, it will still have the original 2023MY pricing even though it was built after February 10th. In this example, the customer is not eligible for retail price protection, because there is nothing to protect.

BODY CODE BREAKDOWN

Body code is is a 3-character code used in Ford's ordering system. If you modify your order and change your body code, you will likely lose your Retail Price Protection. (You will not, however, lose your Model Year Transition Private Offer.)

On most Ford vehicles, the body code is roughly equivalent to trim level. On the Bronco, it is more complicated, as there are multiple possible body codes for each trim level. In general, you may trigger a body code change by changing any of the following:
  • Trim level
  • Number of doors
  • 4x4 transfer case
  • Equipment package
The Bronco's Body Codes are listed below:
  • E5A - 2-door, part-time selectable 4x4 (multiple trims)
  • E5B - 4-door, part-time selectable 4x4 (multiple trims)
  • E5C - 2-door, advanced 4x4 (multiple trims)
  • E5D - 4-door, advanced 4x4 (multiple trims)
  • E5E - 4-door First Edition
  • E5F - 2-door First Edition
  • E5J - 4-door Raptor
  • E4C - 2-door Heritage
  • E4D - 4-door Heritage
  • E4E - 2-door Heritage Limited
  • E4G - 4-door Heritage Limited
Your current body code can be found at the top of your order summary sheet:

1681239108380.png

Again, if your body code changes, you will likely lose retail price protection.

Below are some examples of body code changes, which likely will cause you to lose Retail Price Protection. This is NOT a complete exhaustive list.
  • Removing the Sasquatch package from Base or Big Bend
  • Switching Wildtrak to Big Bend
  • Switching from Part-Time Selectable 4x4 to the Advanced 4x4 transfer case on Outer Banks
  • Switching from Big Bend to Heritage
  • Switching from 2-door to 4-door
And below are some examples of changes that do not change your body code. Again, this is not a complete list.
  • Switching from Wildtrak to Badlands
  • Removing the Sasquatch package from your Black Diamond order, but retaining the Advanced 4x4 option
  • Removing the Sasquatch package from your Badlands
  • Changing from the 2.3L engine to the 2.7L engine

Just here to say thank you. This post and the subsequent thread replies armed me to take delivery of my Bronco today without getting ripped off. Dealer tried to not include price protection and give less of private offer as a “rebate”. With the data here I was able to confidently put my foot down and tell them exactly what I expected to pay and it was not a negotiation. They folded and I’m signing the paperwork now.

thanks again!!

Looking for some guidance here. Dealer is saying they "can't find" the price protection certificates for my Bronco. Original order was 3/1/22

In response to the Hard top limitations, I removed the hard top from my order after Ford e-mailed me about it.
That should amount to $2500 off the sticker.

Additionally, with an original order date of March of 2022, there should be, per the flowchart (for a 4 door black diamond):
Order prior to September 9, 2022: $1995
Order prior to February 10, 2023: $1500
Order prior to March 15, 2023: $0 (no black diamond price changes)
Additional 2023MY Retail Price Protection for Modular Bumper: $150
Order prior to April 10, 2023: $0 (no black diamond price changes)
Prior to June 30th: $100 (unclear about this one)

By my calculations, this should either amount to $6145 or $6245. Is this correct or am I misreading?

Confirm your two forms of price protection that are in play before you negotiate w/your dealer:
  • Private Offers from Ford MoCo. – For Model Year 2022; Transition Private Offer (Smart Vincent) covers price increases between model years (ie. 2021 -> 2023)
    • (Smart Vincent -Call Ford Customer Support for your Certificate #)
    • Ford Marketing: 800-334-4375 to confirm your Private Offer & Cert #
  • Retail Price Protection - covers price increases within 2023 model years (ie. since 2023 order banks opened) This price protection is automatic across all retail-ordered Ford vehicles, and is designed to protect buyer from any mid-year (within the 2023 model year) price increases Ford implements. The retail price protection comes from your dealer, and then Ford reimburses your dealer on the backend.
  • Feb 10, 2023, Price Increase =
  • March 15,2023, Price Increase =
  • March 15, 2023, Option/package increases: HD Mod Bumper, SAS, MIC Hard Top =
  • April 10, 2023 =
  • June 30, 2023 – N/A – Based on when Window Sticker generated on or after 6/23/2023

I appreciate this thread. I have a 2023 Badlands 2dr on order with a build date of 21 Aug. The current build price is about $2000 over my order sheet. I don't have a window sticker yet online and talking to my dealership, all they said is that so far Ford has been good about offering a rebate to get your price very close to your order price. I don't see any details on the flowchart about an order date of 25 May and the most recent price increase. Hoping this all works out.

You need to reread the first post in this thread. All of the details are there. In reality since you already signed the papers, it's most likely too late to do anything. Especially with a dealer playing games. No dates need changed and are correct.

The Private Offer covers from your original order date in '21 until when the reorder took place in Sept '22. It is perfectly normal to reorder for a new model year which in this case would be for 2023. At that time you should of gotten a new DORA and signed the papers for the COVP. The Retail Protection covers from the Sept '22 reorder until the built invoice so all of the increases during MY '23. Increases are automatically rebated back to the dealer and will not show up as an incentive. So you should be paying what was on the DORA from Sept '22 minus the Private Offer.

You need to look at the actual price increase documentation which is on here. Ford has been doing the Retail PP like this for years so a dealer playing dumb is just playing games. It is not an incentive so those documents do not apply. You need to look at each price increase document during MY'23 to see the way it's worded. (which are all the same)

The top 2 paragraphs explain your Retail PP. When they talk about when the order was originally received, they are referring to Sept '22 Prior to that is covered by your Private Offer which is sort of special due to the unusually long wait times.

Do you know where I can find this price protection information online? My order is in production and the window sticker is $1250 over the price on my order form. Base price increase $750, Sasquatch Package increase $400 and Destination increase $100. My dealer is saying they won't know anything until the vehicle arrives. I just want to be fully prepared ahead of time about this. Thanks!

Well... fortunately you've found the place. Jump back to Page 1.

Unfortunately, there is no publicly available source for this information directly from Ford. The information can be retrieved through the dealer, but we as customers cannot see it.

Many thanks Bryan for the chart. Where to send you coffee money ?

Q1: Your price protection amount is determined by what you had on order as as of September 9th, 2022.
Just to verify, "as of September 9, 2022", not what was the original order, which could have been changed subsequently?

Q2: Is is accepted that switching to Heritage on Oct 1, 2022 would still be OK to have the Private Offer?

Q3: is it possible for a dealer mistakenly touch and apply private offer in Smart VINCENT belonging to a different order through a different dealer? Is there no safeguard??

Correct. The snapshot was taken place on September 9th, whatever your order was before/after has no bearing.
Q2: Is is accepted that switching to Heritage on Oct 1, 2022 would still be OK to have the Private Offer?
Yes, you should have a private offer. I heard some people were having difficulty getting their private offer if they switched to Heritage, but I know that was something Ford was working on correcting. Truthfully I haven't paid too much attention to that issue, but I know @Lowcountry Bronco et al. have been discussing it over on the Heritage thread.
Q3: is it possible for a dealer mistakenly touch and apply private offer in Smart VINCENT belonging to a different order through a different dealer? Is there no safeguard??
There is some safeguards, but they're not great. Ford does audit the use of private offers and if Ford finds that the certificate was mistakenly applied the offending dealer will have to eat the cost. So there is a lot of incentive for dealers to double-check their work.

Chances are if you are missing a certificate for your order... either your dealer did not complete the COVP process or you are among the group of Heritage order holders that need to be fixed by Ford.

I will give them a call. From what I am reading here, I don’t expect to have that? My order was placed on 25 May 23, so just a few months back and I think after any private offer, but I will check. Thanks!

Oh yeah... if you placed an order this year and you never had a reservation/order before this year, you will not have any private offers. The private offers are only for those who were carried over from 2020-2022 model years.

I had a reservation back in 2021 that I did not fill and I just called and I do have a private offer available. They gave me the certificate number and the expiration date. Cutting it close for delivery but they said to work through the dealer so talking to them about the certificate number now. So glad this forum is here to help us through this complicated process.
