It came from me and my laptop.May I ask where this flow chart came from...Ford?
Anyway, @BigFootie is correct. I created the 2022 chart after I continually saw people getting screwed over by their dealers when it comes to price protection. In many cases there was no malicious intent by the dealers... they themselves obviously had no idea how it works. But in some cases there were dealers taking advantage of people by cheating Ford's price protection system. That 2022 chart seemed helpful to people, so I created it again for 2023.
I am from a Ford family—my father is a retired Ford engineer and I know several people who still work for Ford. I also personally applied for a job at Ford this past summer and was about to begin the interview process, but shortly afterwards Ford announced a round of layoffs (definitely dodged a bullet). So it is important to note that while I am familiar FMC and many of the inner workings, I am not an authoritative source on the subject, and I have no direct affiliation with Ford. All I'm really doing is taking the documentation that Ford provides to dealers—which clearly some dealers don't read—collecting it, and presenting it on this forum so people know what the heck is going on.
In an ideal world these posts would be unnecessary and your dealer would be able to do it all. Ford's long-standing stance is we are all customers of the dealers, and therefore dealers should handle the customer communication. Which I definitely don't disagree with... BUT... we've all seen how well that has gone (or hasn't gone, I guess) the past 2-3 years. Hopefully there won't be a 2024 edition of this flowchart.
