Ford Bronco Uh oh IMG_6175

Driving down the highway today, noticed smoke, and pulled over. There was oil everywhere. I'm afraid that the engine may be shot. What's strange is there were no check engine lights and it didn't make any unusual noises.

Is there any aftermarket support (pistons, rods, etc) for the 3.0l Ecoboost? I've been looking online but I'm not seeing much. If I need to replace this engine I may have it built. An engine swap would be cool but I'm not sure that anyone is having any luck with their engine swap projects.

What let go? Did the engine have a loose hose clamp somewhere? Hopefully it’s not ruined.

Out of warranty?
It only has 13k miles on it but it does have a Whipple tune and Whipple intercooler installed. There's always a risk that a tune might void the warranty. I've been running the tune for over 10k miles without any issues so I don't think it's related.

I'm tempted to put a built 3.0L in it if I can find someone who builds these engines

The tune might be a problem. Flashing it back to stock will help your odds of warranty covering the issue.

Good luck @DoubleBB & I hope it’s covered under warranty.

I'd be all over this or the 7.3 if it was possible. Sounds like people are struggling to figure it out.

Maybe I missed it: Was it just smoking, or was it running badly and/or making terrible noises?

Received some good news. I had the oil changed at my local Ford dealership recently and it appears as if they put too much oil in the vehicle. When I pulled onto the highway and the vehicle made boost it blew out the dipstick which is where the oil leak was coming from. The engine is completely fine.

Glad it ended well and a perfect example of why I do all of my own oil changes.
