I’ve been looking at Turn Offroad’s Jerry can mount. It looks great, and it looks like it can be mounted quickly and directly to the tailgate using the OEM bolts and no drilling. I’d ideally get the Turn Offroad tailgate reinforcement to go with it, but I’d really rather not spend the additional $700 and from some other threads on the forum the installation seems painful at best.

My question is primarily about weight - the turn Offroad website says that the Jerry can mount can be added with the OEM, but for a Sasquatch wildtrak with the stock tires, how bad of an idea is this?

Tailgate weight is a hotly debated topic on here, so I was hoping to see if anyone has used this or a similar mount. I’m basically just trying to find an efficient way to carry extra fuel without a rooftop rack and without spending a fortune. Based on what I can tell, our tailgates are rated for 133 lbs, the Sasquatch tire weight is about 95, giving us ~45 lbs extra? I think based on this a full Jerry can is pushing pretty close, assuming you have nothing else on the tailgate (I have a table).

Would also be great to hear if the install on the reinforcement is as bad as it seems - I’m a solo and very green DIYer, so not looking to do anything too ambitious.

The closer you get to that 133lbs, the more you're likely to end up sad. I wouldn't get within 20lbs of it to be sure. Also imagine one day you might get heavier tires/spare.

I'm probably going to be adding the TOR tailgate replacement soon, it's definitely a two man job. The install video doesn't make it look that intimidating, but we all know how the videos can omit stuff.

I can't remember who twisted their tailgate with the stock tire holder. Maybe they'll see this. I would just consider the cost needing to replace the tailgate and maybe broken rear glass when that ungainly friend of yours leans on it one day.
