There are modules included in the factory tow option that aren't there without. Thats whats needed.

I found the post. Took me a while and I had to use the laptop instead of the phone so I can open up multiple tabs.

I don't have a link at the moment, but it was the thread about how Kurt released a 4-pin wiring harness.

There's one of our members, Blue something, that was successfully able to add a seven pin wiring harness, but the last post I saw he hadn't actually hooked up a brake controller.

It was identified that the blue wire is actually partially installed I think under the hood but doesn't come into the cab.

I am getting ready to install a 7-pin (aftermarket part) today or tomorrow and plan to use the wires from my dealer installed 4-pin to feed it's connections. I am not installing a brake controller (yet) but will attempt to install the positive wire to the 7 pin that the 4-pin also requires. I will post how it goes.

So I installed the Nilight 4-pin wiring harness for Bronco without LED taillights. When in accessory mode, everything works fine, tail lights, break lights, and turn signals. When the Bronco is running I have no break lights and no turn signals (I occasionally get tail lights) on the trailer but the lights on the Bronco are working fine, just the trailer lights having issues.

Originally thought it might be a grounding issue because I didn't sand down the paint where I grounded, so I fixed that and have a good ground now. Also checked the 10A fuse, still good.

Any ideas?

This is what I installed: https://www.amazon.com/Nilight-Trailer-Standard-Connector-taillights/dp/B0D99T8TR9

Probably no help but, does your trailer have LED lights? When I hook mine (Curt system, but looks the same) up to some LED trailer lights I get some strange behavior. Works fine with incandescent trailer. And I'd triple check the ground.

Idk what more I can do for the ground, its grounded to the bare metal body of the Bronco.

Yes, trailer lights are LED. So you have a Bronco without LED tail lights and had issues when plugging into LED trailer lights? I'm assuming you have the Curt system for Broncos without LED. I also used a 4-pin tester which indicated the same exact issue I have when hooked up to a trailer, though the tester is also LED.

I'll preface this part by saying that I know virtually nothing about electrical work, but the fact that everything works perfectly 100% of the time in accessory mode makes me think its either too low or too high voltage when vehicle is running. Is it possible that in accessory mode (I'm assuming lower voltage maybe 10-11V from battery) everything is working, but when the Bronco is running, the spike in voltage (anywhere from 13-15V as per my instrument panel) causes the converter to bug out?

Potential issues with wire gauge size, butt connector rating, fuse amps? I know nothing about this stuff and I kind of wish I didn't try to save money by buying Nilight vs Curt, or DIY install vs taking it to U-Haul.

IDK anymore than you sorry to say. Just passing info that most times I've had trailer light issues, especially weird issues it's been ground. I had an early version of the Curt kit and required rewiring for non LED and grounding of the red wire as well as the white. Then when running the LED trailer lights, they would never shut off until the door was locked, even though the Bronco taillights would shut off. ??? 🤔
