I have a 2022 Ford Bronco Black Diamond (non-LED) lights but I replaced the light bulbs with ORACLE Lighting WT21W Extreme-Performance LED Reverse Light Bulbs a while back.

If I wanted to install the Curt Trailer Wiring Harness, do I install the harness made for the LED equipped Broncos (adapting them similar to this Budget Bronco tutorial video) or can I install the harness made for the non-LED Broncos?

My main concern is if the non-LED harness would expect a higher current draw from the factory incandescent bulbs, and since LEDs draw much less current, the harness module might not correctly detect the signal.

Just want to make sure I choose the right one before installing. I tried searching for this topic and couldn't find anything on it. Anyone else run into this after switching to LED bulbs? Would appreciate any help or advice on this!

I'd say get the non LED harness, since that's the way your Bronco is wired. I do not think there is a difference in the Curt harness from a current draw standpoint. The wires are in different positions however.

I was an early adopter of the Curt harness. Apparently their prototype had LED lights and they set their harness up for them, not knowing non LEDs had different wire positions. @BudgetBronco and @VoltageDrop on this forum figured it out and instructed us what wires to move where and it all worked.

I have since gotten a newer Curt set up (long story) non LED and it works great. I do not however have LED bulbs, but I think you will be fine.

I agree with @dgorsett : the difference in the two harness part numbers is the position of the pins, not the current draw. So in your case use the halogen (non LED) since that is how your Bronco is originally wired regardless of bulb type used.

I sent several emails to Curt back in Dec 2021 when we discovered this problem, gave them all details and wiring diagrams to prove they were selling a part that did not work on a bunch of Broncos they were selling the harness for. They said they "would have engineering look in to it and get back to me" but never replied to actually acknowledge the problem, then several months later started selling the additional part number specifically for halogen lights, never did reply though.

Seems like a decade ago, but you saved the day! Thank you! I could not release the pins, but my wife did it easy peasy.

I had your exact same situation. Base with non-LED taillights, with Oracle flush taillights installed. I used the non-LED tow harness from Curt. Easy install, no issues.

I accidentally bought a non-LED wiring kit (not Curt but another brand) and I am wondering if it will work with my LED bronco if I just swap the two pins? Basically reversing the budget bronco video?

The voltage is the same? No other concerns?

LED has a PWM output for the bulbs. Reversing the pins ~might~ work but it's not just the same voltage.
