Afternoon again,
Well it appears from my last post that I’m gonna need the module to get the 4 pin plug to operate. Have installed the hitch and 7/4 pine plug to this point. Figured the plug and play would do the job but ford definitely outsmarted me. Guess they need to connect to the screen somehow?? Anyway do I need to go through ford for a plug and play install or is there an aftermarket module? Thanks for any help on this, guess if I had to do it over a towing package would be a better option.

What is the year of your Bronco? You may just need the tow module activated or you will need to install a module and have it activated.

If you want to use the factory wiring, then yeah you need the tow module from the Ford kit. The module itself is actually made by a third party supplier called Lumen, but they only sell it through Ford, and no other third party kit exists (that I'm aware of, anyway).

For programming, most people get their dealer to program it, but it's possible to do yourself if you have the right hardware/software. The programming just lets the tow module talk to the rest of the vehicle. For example, when you plug in a trailer it'll automatically detect it, and the Bronco will disable stuff like blind spot system and the rear parking sensors.

Option B is to bypass the factory wiring, run your own wires, and splice/adapt your own cables as necessary. Plenty of aftermarket kits out there that let you do that from Curt and others. Won't get the integration with the rest of the vehicle that way, and more difficult to install, but also cheaper.

Thanks. So much for getting me updated on the process. Definitely not as simple as the 1975 Bronco 🤠

The 2025's are a cinch compared to what I had to do on my 21 to retrofit the full factory tow package. Also know that just because you have functioning trailer lights, you cannot control the trailer brakes without installing an in cab trailer brake controller. I recommend the factory plug and play controller if available.

Almost everything was simpler when modules didn't exist that had to work and play well with others...

Thanks, I’ll start looking. Assuming I better order by VIN to make sure I get the right one

does any trailer you should be pulling behind a bronco actually need brakes ?
Short answer is no. But, if you are towing a trailer at or near the capacity of your Bronco, it will most certainly come with brakes, at which point you will need to be able to control those brakes. Long answer is if your trailer has brakes, you should be setup to use them.

I just added a 4-pin tow module that connected into the standard lights on my 2-Door Base (without tow package), and a CURT trailer hitch. Basically, bypassing Ford (just like you would in 1975).

You plug the wires into the standard tail lights (plug-n-play), and run a wire off the battery for the trailer power. That wire coming with its own 10A fuse.

Of course... I'm only doing this for a small trailer (maybe 1000 lbs or so). Just wanted the capability to rent a trailer and take things to the dump, or my wife's kayak trailer to the lakes.

Works just fine.

Of course if I were towing a bigger trailer (like a small Air Stream with brakes)... I'd go the factory route.

I did the same with my '24 for a 4-pin setup: Curt hitch & a $40 module from Amazon. No need for Ford to do any programming as long as you don't mind the proximity alerts when you're in reverse with a trailer

Do we know what the part number is on the module? I can't tell from any pictures and the kits aren't itemized out.
Or is it sold separate anywhere? I can find many of them online but can't tell which is the same. There are many options from Ford.

It should be Part No. S2DZ-19H332-A for the 2025-2026 Bronco, but I can't verify.

I don't know if it's sold separately. The 2021-2024 module IS sold separately, but in the past the tow package was a factory-installed component. For the past several model years it has been a dealer-installed package—if you order the tow package with your Bronco, your dealer gets the same kit I linked earlier and they install it at the dealership before you pick it up.

So... I wouldn't be surprised if there is no way just to order the module alone, it may only come as a complete kit.

Oh. I do have a 2024. Which has all the wiring already, if I understand correctly. Just not the module and hitch and such.
