I believe Ford racing was formed around the idea that you could go in to a dealer and build the power train that their racers use off of a dealers shelf.Ford Performance sounded better. Conceptually, Ford Performance extended an arm around a larger number of Ford owners (cars and trucks) and said, "hey, you too can modify / improve the performance of your vehicle even if it's your daily driver/grocery getter". It was sort of an aspirational thing that a lot of Ford owners could lean into. Not for nothing, it enabled Ford to sell a greater number of performance parts and accessories for a larger number of models.
While pivoting to the branding of Ford Racing communicates the message that Ford MoCo is all in on racing, does it mean Ford MoCo will dial back performance parts and walk away from the owners of regular cars and trucks looking to upgrade some performance aspect of their daily driver? It will be interesting to see how this re-branding will turn out.
