Maybe they're supposed to trip the absconder as they attempt to purloin those fancy hubcaps wheels. Thwarted!! May they suffer many a skinned knee, those bastards.

Hey thanks for all the replies, i sent an email to them over the weekend and got a reply this morning as goes;

Good Afternoon,

''Thank you for reaching out with your request. The 24026 lock set is correct item from our aftermarket line of products.
From our aftermarket line this is the shortest lock we can offer that will not bottom out on the stud and break. This lock has an overall length of 1.46” and the only other option in black would be the original equipment line sold through Ford as an original equipment accessory, that lock set is Ford part number M1A043A5 with overall length of 1.34”. That part number would only be sold through Ford.
Regards,
Michael Andriaccio lll
Customer Service Technician''.

My take is the 'aftermarket line' is meant to cover a broad line of vehicles with the M12 X 1.5 specs that why there a little longer, and if the Ford part fits with a short 1.34'' spec and doesn't bottom out, his response don't make sense about the 1.46'' item may bottom out.
So their length is a compromise for streamlined SKU's.
I'm going to get the Ford part and use my Pass points there $60.

The "Ford" part is likely still made by McGard (I know the Mopar ones are) And there is likely an agreement between the two that McGard can't make an aftermarket lock that competes directly with the one they're selling through Ford...
