I realize this has been posted many times, but today on the highway the DTC lit up with multiple warnings and my 2024 Wildtrak went into limp mode.

I pulled onto the shoulder, turned it off and let it set for a couple of minutes. I restarted it and everything was fine. What’s concerning is I was headed to a trailhead (rated difficult) and it could’ve been a nightmare situation.

Is it even worth taking it to the dealer? My voltage is steady at 13.4 to 14.4, so I’m not convinced it’s the battery. I have 20,000 miles on it.

So you were on the highway and what happened? Like were you attempting a pass and getting frisky with the go pedal? When this happens to me it's always under spirited acceleration, is why I ask.

Not at all. Running 65 MPH down the highway and it started throwing codes and I lost engine power. After pulling to the shoulder, any attempt at acceleration was weak.

The voltage displayed is not the charge that's on the battery, it's what the charging system has available. While I'm not saying that the problem is even likely the battery, I'm just saying the information provided by the gauge doesn't rule it out.

It’s the battery. That’s a constant charge voltage…

(Probably)

Send me your VIN and I’ll check the codes.
I’d be very surprised if it had anything to do with the battery considering it happened going 65 down the road.

P130D: Engine Knock/Combustion Performance - Forced Limited Power

Did you fill up with gas recently before this? Potentially bad gas although there are obviously a lot of other potential causes.
Basically your knock sensors detected excessive pre-ignition.

I filled up the night before and had driven very little until that morning. I was probably 25 miles into my drive to the trailhead when this happened.

Thank you for looking it up. I guess I’ll send it to the dealership and see what they have to say.

What octane & brand did you fill with if you don’t mind? Was it the same octane as before?

I just did my first 87 fill ever at Shell after 93 for the past few months. Want to see how it runs on 87 before heading on our New England tour next month. The price difference where I am is $2.98 for 87 vs $3.99 for 93.

Filled up with 87, which in Colorado is considered Mid. I always fill up with 87 and almost always at the same place.
