So I bought my Bronco used in December. I couldn't connect to Fordpass (not really a big deal as far as I can tell). I took it in to the dealer and found out the TCU hadn't connected since the June prior. This was in January. They ordered a new TCU and it just came in about four months later. So I took the Bronco in last week and it's been taking awhile. I called today and was told they put in the new TCU and it couldn't be programmed. They tried putting in the old one and same thing.

The dealer thinks Ford sent them the wrong part (wrong TCU).

Anyone have a similar thing happen? Any ideas about what could be going on, either wrong TCU or something else that could be wrong?

Tbh, I drove it around without a TCU without any problems and I don't really care that much, but I want it fixed under warranty so it works if/when I sell/trade in.

I'm not sure on the details, but mine was worked out. I think they got with Ford and figured out the issue. Again, sorry, I didn't get details on that. When I picked it up, the tech was helping me connect on my Ford pass app so I got lost in that and forgot to ask about the specifics.

If you continue to have issues, let me know. I can call my dealership and ask. It's a great dealer (I got lucky) so I'm sure they'd try to help out if they can.

I've heard there are some issues with Ford getting software to the makers of the TCU so when it gets to us, the software we pull from Ford's servers isn't working. Software and programming issues are going to be Ford's downfall. You'd shit if you saw how many broadcast messages come out each week (for multiple vehicle lines) that have programming or software issues. It's pathetic.

If you can get me the dealership name and service manager I can give it to my guy. Ford engineers have had the case for weeks now.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all. It’s very apparent ford doesn’t have their stuff together. Pretty sure our original problem was a Database issue because it would not allow us to enroll in ford pass.
good luck finding a DBA in ford that could fix it though.

This stuff is all over our dealer message boards. Probably need to do some research because I don't honestly believe Ford does their own software. Engineering probably creates the specs then outsources it to someone like Bosch or other third part to actually write code. The as-built is on Ford's servers but there are frequent problems with that site and notoriously long programming times, half a day in some cases, depending on what component is getting replaced. One of the latest is an issue with Sirus not displaying the name on some of the channels on a '23 Lincoln. Techs on message board discovered this on a F150 using Forscan and found one of the addresses was set to off. He turned it on with Forscan and it fixed the issue. Ford doesn't have a fix for this yet and there's no option in FDRS to change the setting. I can change some of the speaker settings on my '23 bronco using FDRS but can't use it to program a different tire size. Makes no sense and is extremely frustrating for technicians that are fighting these problems with nearly no support and hamstrung because Ford has the software locked down where they can't even look to try and find a coding issue.

Is the tcu the lil silver box behind the right side of the glove box? Trying to find the location online and coming up short. I want to disable it to see if this is the route cause of my parasitic draw

Just an FYI Ford still hasnt figured out the issue. Dropped on the bronco Again and this time the dealer has had it going on 3 weeks.

Hard to believe that a company like Ford doesnt have a single engineer capable of figure out how to initiate a TCU.

Ford service comped me a 5 year ESP (really 2 years added to my bumper to bumper) with a 100 deductible. Not really great being that i have been without my bronco for a cumulative month and a half.

I’m on 4 weeks at the dealer for the same shit and 2 weeks prior to this. No one has offered me anything for this total inconvenience and there doesn’t seem to be any urgency on the part of Ford. My dealer is also frustrated. I don’t know what to do here and cat seem to talk to anyone at Ford aside from my dealer

We finally made some progress. Turns out the gateway module was bad and that’s why the new TCU couldn’t be installed. Gateway module was passing all diagnostics but engineer still determined it was bad. Once it was replaced they were able to initialize the TCU. Now we are waiting for them to provision it. The bad news is now wireless CarPlay is dead rofl…
