Jtops founder, I just missed the Fourth of July sale. I now have the money and I would like to get one and test it out. I don’t like the Velcro and adhesive option, but I do like the fitment better than all the rest. I have a Ford bronco raptor.

So…..any new bikini top options on the horizon? I’d rather not dink around with Velcro.

Hey Mike,
Early version titanium owner here and I must say I love it despite the under hooks and a cracked plastic headliner. Still works like a champ but , I got to be honest I hate the Velcro. I love those awesome magnets though. I think my version has about 15 of them. Any way you could just double the number used and forgo any Velcro? I know the price would jump but it would be worth every penny to me. Is this a possibility or have your R&D people say it is not possible?
Another reason I ask about this is, as a two door owner who has the Top Lift Pro rolling jack (fabulous product), I can’t just leave the Bimini in place as the top is lifted from inside. Thus, beating up on the Velcro. I’d love your thoughts when you get the chance. Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the questions.
As far as the Velcro goes it will remain our choice of attachment. Using just magnets will not survive highway speeds. Our approach is fitment, coverage and a custom look.

It has been so successful Ford has adopted our design. We now make a Ford branded version for them.

We have upgraded the Velcro to a 2 inch marine grade version formulated to handle up to 185 degrees.

To date we have sold over 4,000 Bronco tops so we have the data on the use and stability of the Velcro.

As far as the top lift pro it should be able to slip between the mesh and the surface of the hart top. We have reached out to them to discuss what we could do to assure its compatibility but they have never returned a call or an email.

I hope I have answered your questions and I’m always available by phone if you would like to discuss it further.

I just put on the alien top for a standard 4 door. Works fine. You have to move one side mount hole (on either side) but only a couple inches. I’m not sure how the center bar will treat the mesh, but I’ll sew in some vinyl or pehaps pop a couple more grommets there if it is an issue.

Explain this piece please
the bungee closest to the center bar is supposed to mount over the middle screw in the center bar with a plastic washer that holds the bungee. The shape of the center bar doesn’t allow the washer. So I put it back a couple holes. It’s the rubbing of the mesh on the bar that will be the issue. I’ll make mods and post it. I just really don’t like the jtop Velcro and tape, etc. I wanted the roped on look.

Late to the discussion, but wanted to add that our JTop is by far the best upgrade we've made in terms of use and bang-for-the-buck. We're topless at least half of the year and it just wouldn't be possible without the shade. Rests perfectly under the soft top too. No regrets. Good luck!

I can vouch for the two door JTop being compatible with the TopLift Pro. Lift the top slightly and swing out the stabilizer bars. No problem. The Velcro has lasted for me for two years without issue. Just follow the instructions, including the wait time. 2” wide Velcro would be even better that you have gone to.

The red outline is showing the shape and placement of reinforcement vinyl I will sew underneath. It will be the part that rests on the cross bar. The circles are the new grommet locations. I’ll probably pull the old one out that is between and sew some mesh back over it so there isnt an unused hole.

I am looking at the Bronco Bikini.
Broncobikini.com
No Velcro that I can tell and water proof statement and 0 flapping has caught my attention.
Have you seen this one?
I have the BroncoBikini. It's nice to be fully shaded from the sun.

I recently installed an alien sunshade on my 4dr wildtrak. I’m impressed, especially for $160.

i do have to unhook the 2 front bungees and 2 front hooks to install front panels of hard top. I’ll keep it installed during warm months, but will remove it once it gets cold.
