I picked up a same year console from eBay for my 23 badlands, as I found I have a cam button that shows signs of having some fractured plastic. The paint started to peel there, so I took some pictures, and can make out a line behind it where it's peeling. Lots of them available for cheap.
I'm in that place where I'd rather not take it to the dealership for a button, when a replacement is so inexpensive... (but I can reluctantly still do so).
The replacement console is mint. Not a mark on it.
Can I swap out the whole module, or do I need to replace just the individual button? I've had a tinker on the replacement and can't figure out how the buttons release. They don't appear permanently fixed, but have all manner of tabs and clicky delicate looking plastic mechanisms all over (really quite a nicely made thing), and I can't find a single video of someone operating on one. Plenty of how to get the module out, as it coincides with getting to the dash.
If I replace the whole module, will the computer recognize it, or is it not that simple? If the whole module swap is a no no, How do I pull those buttons?
Uploading pics in case it might be interesting to anyone. The last being the replacement, and not a picture I took. It is identical, though looks darker there.
Thanks.
