Stripped and Polished Stock Wheels

Has anyone stripped, polished and clear-coated either of these wheels? I have both sets and considering it. In my reading I understand they may need to be chemically etched before clear-coating.

If you take it to an anodizing shop, preferably an aircraft or industrial machine anodizer, they will dip . Chemically strip anodize and clear.

Probably no need for polish though you can request to inspect after stripping to determine if need a polish.

Usually it's well under $100 wheel since the process is so simple.

Thanks. I am looking at polishing since I suspect the stripped surface may be inconsistent at best. I’m sure Ford’s wheel provider did the minimal surface prep for paint.

I would say worst case after anodizer stripping you see a dull but smooth finish that can be polished by anodizer or yourself very quickly.

These wheels are coated on a smooth surface with wet on wet etch primer, then color coat of some sort so the substrate will be very smooth ready for polish.

They can also just do what's called a clear anodize which 8s the silver anodized look you see around definitely talk to anodizer different ones have different services.

You can always just get them acit dipped and decide from there....walnut and glass bead blasting also avail but might be more costly.
