I took the Ranger in yesterday to get the oil changed. At checkout I told the service lady I wanted to use my points to pay for it. She informed me that I only had 1000 points. That was news to me because I knew I had around 34K. After she did some research she found that someone used 33K points from my account at another dealership on 5/7. I called the rewards # and after about 15 minutes on a three way call with the other dealership, they are crediting back my points. They are not sure if there's a glitch in the system or if someone has figured out how to steal others' points. If you have points and you use them, I would keep an eye on them from time to time.

Do they have the same name as you? It happens with my father and I. His points go on my account, and he uses the points on my account, we have the same name.

I think when dealer or whatever sets it up they search by name or something...

I don't care, I don't use the points anymore, but it took a minute to figure out what was happening.

No, different name, town and dealership. They can look it up by your account # or your email. I use the points for all my oil changes. Used them to buy the hood graphic the other day.

That's interesting. Do you have two factor authentication (2FA) set up on your account?

Every time I log into Ford.com, they send an email with a login code that I have to enter to ensure it is me logging in.

I would definitely change your password.

Seven years ago, someone hacked into my late wife's Delta Skymiles, and Amazon account. I found out as I was dealing with her stuff after she passed away.

She had been using the same password for all her accounts. Some dirtbag probably got the information off of some data breach. They then tried to log in, and when the 2FA email was sent, they logged into her email account to got the code and then proceeded to change her password and email, steal her Delta Skymiles and made some fraudulent purchases on the Amazon account.

I was able to get both accounts shut down and wasn't liable for the Amazon charges, but the Delta Skymiles, which were substantial, were lost.

I know it's hard to not reuse passwords with all the different logins we need nowadays, but I have a different and unique password for my bank, and a different and unique password for my home email. I may re-use passwords for other accounts, but I always have 2FA turned on with at minimum through email, but preferably through a text message.

Hackers will always find a way, and all you can do is to try not to make it easy for them.
