Rock the soft top, you will like it down in TX. If at some point in the future you want a hard top, find a takeoff or order the ADV one. I ordered the ADV modular top because I am in CO and the winter can be brutal on a soft top. Didn't happen last year, but it will. Keep the soft top for summer.

Second time posting on here, but have been following this forum throughout my 2 year journey with the ordering process as many, many of you guys have and with my order just getting shipped a problem as come up and figured I'd see what you all have to say/do in this situation.

I originally had an early reservation, not day 1 but relatively early, as the wait continued I canceled the reservation and decided to keep my current car, which I love. So time passed and I keep catching myself on this forum or the Ford Bronco built website, so in January of this year, I decided to reorder. After hearing all the delays with the hardtop I placed my INITIAL order with a soft-top w/prep kit. I then, 7-10 days later I texted my agent and request to change my order to a hardtop MIC, which he replied, the next day confirming the order had been changed. All is good, checking in once a month, no update.

Fast forward to first week of August, I request the built sheet to confirm everything is good to go, just had a feeling it would happen towards the end of the year and hell I wanted to make sure everything was good. I noticed it still had the soft-top on the built sheet, which then I stated that we had changed that to a hard-top which he reconfirmed that it was on the built-sheet but they had changed it in the Ford Ordering system. Okay, fine... seems logical enough to me.

Today, I received the assembly line photo, and to my surprise theres a soft-top.

I have already done a good bit of research on different hard-tops prior and seems like ADV is the only one remotely close to achieve something. Seeing people on here quoting $5-10K from Ford. Like I said ADV has one for $5-7K, but thats gonna be awhile. Highly doubt the dealership can order one to fix this error on their part. Can't really re-order a bronco and wait another 2-3 years for delivery since I am giving my current car to my brother who is turning 16 very soon.

All suggestions would be helpful. Yes, the most obvious is just keep the soft-top, which I will, but ultimately I want a hard-top, and I don't want to be screwed on a $1K option from the factory to thousands on something that was not my fault.
Went through the same thing with pain’t color except the Ford system and tracker showed it in the correct color right up until it went into production and there was nothing anyone was willing to do about it.

Even the graphic in their email showed it correctly:

Ford Bronco Sticky Situation w/ Taking Delivery F79A26E9-A17E-4F80-9CDA-7DE08DE1BD02

Their system is broken and nobody knows how to fix it, or has any interest in fixing it or even acknowledging the fact that it’s broken.

It would be one thing if I was just changing color on a whim, but the dealer didn’t have anything to show in the colors we were interested in, let alone a Bronco, and I was assured that we could just put something down and then change it once we had an opportunity to see them. All seemed fine then Ford pulls the rug out from under us in the 11th hour... Lame.

I too originally ordered mic then canceled to get it quicker....best decision ever! Absolutely love the soft top! Now I wouldn't even think about adding hard top.....just make sure you read up on how to properly open and close it and I also added strips of felt along every sharp point that touches fabric and there were atleast 6 to 8 spots that were noticeably gonna eventually tear into the top....I see alot of broncos around me that they just throw the top back to position 1 without making sure it's not pinched or not folding correctly and they are tearing or coming loose at some seems

If your documentation is good and you live in Texas, I would seriously push for a hefty discount. In Texas there’s a thing called the ā€œDeceptive Trade Practices Act. You lawyers can correct me, but I believe it is executed in Small Claims Court. Your damages would be the cost of the MIC X 3. So potentially $20K or so.

So….if you are a Texas resident, you may have some serious negotiating clout. Please read up on the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. I’m pretty sure it will apply in your case.

If not, or in a gray area, BLUFF….

Is it in writing that you ordered a hard top? If so your dealership should make things right with you and order you one. I had my hard top replaced a few months ago and it didn't take very long for it to come in.

Man, that isn't the dealership's mixup at all. I removed the tow package (which the WBDO screen myself, when dealer made the change, but a few weeks ago, I got my VIN and everything and low and behold, I have tow on it. That was like the 15th bronco my dealer has said they changed and Ford didn't update the other side of it. Top is, of course, a big change, along with a version change. That being said, my sister has the ST and it isn't bad at all. Really no difference in noise at all from what I saw. ST is easy to get opened, unlike my Jeep TJ. Were getting a 2 door, so HT is the only option, other than straight-up buying the ST completely.

Man the mix up sucks but I love the soft top. Nice day under 5 minutes top down. Windows in the cargo area. Can have it back on and up in 5 min. The soft top can also be completely unbolted and removed like the hard top. That said I would like to have both. I got my Bronco in January in Michigan. It did well they the winter warm as can be. But in do worry about the life span of the windows and fabric in the cold. Eventually I’ll get a hard to for winter and keep the softy for summer. Try it before you knock it. I will say the dealer should hook you up with something for the inconvenience.
The more I hear good things about the soft top the less stress I get! I will say I dont love the look, but sometimes the utility of something makes more sense then the way it looks. What do you think is fair to ask the dealer as far as I hook up?

Yes, I have the original text requesting to order to be changed, with a confirmed text that it was changed the next morning. Reached out once a month over text to check the status of the overall car, and then again on August I requested the build sheet and reminded them it was still showing soft top, and then reconfirmed over text that it was changed in the Ford Ordering system.

That is fantastic! Only hope my dealer can provide the same level of customer service, we will see this Saturday when I get time to go up there and talk to the manager.

Damn... I'm upset about a soft-top can not even begin to imagine if it was a completely different color then what I ordered.

What did you end up doing?
What did the dealership do?

The 8 year 100k ford premium care extended warranty is a place to start. It’s a $1500 price point. They probably won’t go for it but it’s a starting point.

The functionality of it is what I like. After having a hard top at the off Roadeo. And taking the panels out I know I would not take the panels off nearly as much as I do with the soft top.

Called the dealer, called Ford, rinse repeat. Nobody could do anything or even tell me how it happened.

Change in the tracker happened 20 days after I first received my VIN. Both Ford and dealer say that can’t happen, yet it did. Kept getting, ā€œSomeone will get back to you in a few business days.ā€ Never got a single return call. Dealer blames Ford, Ford blames dealer. I believe this is on Ford.

Finally got a hold of someone at Ford executive thanks to some contacts posted in another thread. Very nice woman did call me, did listen, did look into it and call back, but ultimately had no solution other than don’t buy it and order a ā€˜23 and loose price protection from the original order.

So, now it is showing as shipped. Assuming everything goes smooth with delivery and there are no other issues I will likely buy it as first and foremost I want it for a work vehicle for my property etc. and the color has no bearing on it’s performance in that role. If the dealer tries any price b.s. or anything of the like I’ll probably walk. The two threads about the rear crossmember bending have me on the fence as it is. Only issue on the other hand is I’ve passed on other options and will now have to start all over trying to get a vehicle to fill the roll.

If I do get it I don’t think I will ever go back to Ford for another vehicle.

Only real technical concern about the color is the carbonized gray I’m ending up with just disappears on the road and I’m worried about other drivers not seeing it. I’ve seen a few of them on the road lately and the CG Broncos just fade into the background.

Was talking to the wife about it when we were behind one on the way home today. She saw my point and suggested masking it off and letting all the kids spray bomb it when the family is all together for Christmas. I’m really liking that idea…

The soft top is very tolerable. Don’t listen to the people who expect it to be as quiet as a Mercedes. Get your Bronco with the soft top and enjoy your new adventure.
