I’m posting this to save someone the trouble. I couldn’t find reference to this topic for winter non-OEM steel wheels. I could not find a reasonable priced alloy wheel that I liked, in which would look like a truck wheel with a chunky center cap. Sooo, I bought new steelies for new winter tires, painted them bronze Duplicolor wheel paint and semi gloss clear after ordering Bronco caps they said would fit…they didn’t. The OEM is for OEM steel wheel made for these centers. The placement is unique and doesn’t snap over the lugs but fits between - kinda chincy.
I thought I would get a push-through center but couldn’t find them for 2.5” centering hole in the rim. I contacted CanadIan Wheels, RSSW and , Fast HD, all Canadian, but they don’t know the dimensions of thier center caps- I was going to find one that fit over the lugs and inside the “dish” of the wheel (5-1/2” in my case) , drill and tap the hold down holes into the bump ring at the lug circle to make the wheel look factory-like. 2 holes, no biggy. Sooo, no go, I’d have find a wheel dealer that has stock, willing to let me measure and trial fit, bla-bla. No go.
Long story short, the new generation Ford Maverick wheel center snaps on the lug nuts with the same 108mm bolt circle , looks and is authentic with a ford logo stamp and kinda chunky. it’s almost 6” diameter but the outside rises up a bit and with a little material removal on the corners, snaps onto the lugs and fills out the dish bottom. Got them on eBay at almost 1/3rd the OEM 72$ price tag Each.
Once they here and all put together I’ll post a picture. It may not suit everyone but it beats the cost of custom wheels and OEM steelies are ridiculous $$$. I think it’ll look better too. With 5 coats of rim paint on top of the China black,, should beat the rusty look they are famous for.
