I would not pay $91k for a vehicle, but I would buy a Bronco Raptor at MSRP or less if MSRP is in the $70s.

I’m honestly starting to wonder if all this Raptor hype is worth it. My ordered Raptor comes out a little over 91K out the door. I’m having seconds thoughts on if it’s wise to drop that much on a vehicle that can’t tow 12k. It’s just going to be a toy. Don’t know what to do. The longer it takes for delivery the more I think I’m making a bad financial decision.
Do you also plan on putting a mower deck under it to cut yards?

You buy mowers to mow, aerators to aerate, trimmers to trim...
You do not buy Raptors to tow.

There is nothing to wonder about here.

My dealer has a braptor for 115k, I get emails all the time about it (as I said I was interested) but told them not with ADM. its been sitting for a couple weeks now.

my main reason wanting the raptor was bigger engine and and beefy look. But for nearly 60k more than my OBX, I could spend 10k and make it nearly identical.

and the engine upgrade is only .3L which isnt much, probably has the same output as my OBX once you account for weight, Aero, and Tire size
Please list the parts and prices that you could spend 10k on to make your OBX "nearly identical" to a stock Braptor.

This is an easy one. If you can afford the Raptor and want it for it's designed purposes, OR you just think you will enjoy it regardless of pushing it offroad then keep it.

If it's a stretch for you financially, and 91K is nothing to scoff at, then don't go down that road. Flippers piss me off so I am not encouraging that behavior.

As for most of the Raptor haters who say it isn't any more capable than a standard Bronco they could not be more wrong and mainly state that as they either:

A: Don't have a reservation to get one.

B: Can't afford one.

C: Just do not understand the thing at all and should probably watch some Lite Brite Videos.

I do deeply understand how the emotional attachment to these vehicles has long since worn off as most of us have waited years now to get one and they (non-Raptor Broncos) seem to be a dime a dozen driving around these days. The allure is certainly not what it once was and as the car market softens and cools these may turn out to be very bad investments and you may thank yourself for walking away.

The reason I wanted the Raptor is I used to own a Pumpkin Orange 1979 rally Scout ... No longer do I go 4 wheeling with the top off.

I'm not a Raptor hater, but I don't understand why you would need to throw down 91K to re-live your Scout days, and you are no longer 4 wheeling. Just get a Pumpkin orange 2-door in one of the lower trim levels and you'll have just as much fun at half the cost.

Interesting that the Off Rodeo videos for regular Broncos are rock crawling and edging up mountains while the preview video I saw for the Raptors are basically driving on dirt roads and in wide open areas, doing little more than they do going through a Starbucks.

Is it a bad financial decision... of course it is! So is getting married, buying a boat, buying an airplane, having kids, and investing in Bitcoin... but people still do it.

Honestly, you are not doing this because of the financial aspect. The fact that you are even asking the question means that either paying cash or financing $91K will put a dent in your finances in some way or that there are other things that you could be using the money for... like refreshing equipment for your business or saving the money in case we do go into a full recession and people start cutting back on premium lawn care.

None of us know your situation... if you want to relive your nostalgia of having your old Scout then just buy anyone of the Big Bend Soft Tops sitting on lots, put some cool wheels on it and some bigger tires, drop the top, roll down the windows and cruise. And then go and buy a 5-year old Duramax with 50K miles on it and still be less than $91K!

Great points on your reply. Thanks. Yes paying Cash. No financing. Obviously it’ll hurt a little. But more in the ability to purchase other things. Equipment for the business should be good for quite a while although as mentioned would like to get a track loader. Also this purchase would put a damper on purchasing a lake front cottage.

I’m probably going to go through with the purchase. If I don’t like it I could always sell it.

If you're seriously weighing it, then you can't afford it.

People who can truely afford $100k vehicles don't really think of the finances, they just point at something they want and sign the check.

You recovered stock Bronco trims at Easter Safari in Moab last year with your Raptor? The Bronco Raptor wasn't even built yet.

You seem rather defensive as to what you and your Raptor are capable of - even challenging others to show up in Moab this spring. Why wait? Bring your Raptor to Ol' Florida New Years event next weekend. Certainly, you aren't intimidated by the local trails in Florida. There will be plenty of 6G Broncos that would love to see your Raptor in action. Plus, you can add to your resume of recovering more stock Broncos. Of course, I'm sure you are humble enough when Micah has to recover you from Blue Rhino.
Great response, I think he is a little confused. I was at Ester Jeep Safari last year in a stock Bronco and there wasn’t many needing recovery. There was one Raptor driven by a Ford Executive though.

For a guy who seems to hate Bronco Raptors, you spend an awful lot of time and energy on Raptor forum threads…..
