Speeding Ticket

SOB I got my first speeding ticket in darn near 20 years this afternoon. And it was in the freaking Spark of all things. I deserve it, I wasn't paying attention to my speed and blew past a cop. But now I’m salty at myself for being stupid. Such is life. I wonder if I can do traffic school to not have the points reported but I have never received a ticket as a resident of WI before.

In WI, you might have to go to court to get traffic school in lieu of points. Show up for court and meet with the prosecutor. But it's been 15 years since I got stopped in WI.

In IL you have the convenience of doing it in writing. I got nabbed on the tollway last year going 92. The speed limit on that section of road had dropped from 94 mph to 89 mph and nobody told me that . The trooper told me I needed to slow down and then whispered "just a little bit". Inexplicably the signs all say 70 mph.

So far I haven't had one in the Bronco (knocks on wood). I have had a couple local sheriffs flash their lights at me for being about 5 over but that is it.

I'm not going to jinx myself about getting a ticket, but my son got one a couple a months ago. He'd never had one, so he paid $165.00 and they emailed him a link to a 30 minute video to watch.....if he wanted to. They just want the money now a days.

I'm fine with that. I'd rather pay an "admission fee" than have it reflect on my license. Consider it the cost of having fun...

Stopped in WI, should have been drinking....you get some free passes on that...

Call in see if deferred is an option , or talk to prosecutor about a no contest plea to a non moving violation (ours liked obstructed LP, or obstructed rear view mirror). The non moving part is the key as it doesn’t hit your insurance. And yes, before you ask, you WERE speeding, and it IS about money .

most jurisdictions aren’t honest enough to call it revenue, instead referring to it as “cost recovery”.
