Trying to fit aftermarket 6.5" speakers in the kick panel, but it looks like I definitely need an adapter so my magnet isn't touching the body. Which one works for our trucks? Thanks!

It will depend on what speakers you're using. Are they just woofers or are they coax? If they're coaxial, there's a good chance the Metra's aren't shallow enough to work with the kick panel covers.
For coax, I'd look at Sounds Good Stereo kick pane adapters.
Here's a shot showing the height difference between them. Sounds Good adapters are on the right (obviously). It's enough of a difference to get something like the Hertz Cento coaxes in there.

It should work. Actually I have the Metra adapters just lying around and I've already shaved off the tabs too. If you want em, I'll send them to you for the price of shipping. If you need them "Amazon now!" I completely understand.

Those will fit with no problems !!!
the body has a huge pocket there behind the OEM speaker...I filled it with foam.
I'm running way bigger speakers' magnets than those and I put two stacked (crutchfield) spacers in there.
