Has anyone else experienced this issue yet? Luckily it’s small, but not sure what to even do about it? Going to take it in to the dealer and see what they say about it. Looks like it’s happening right at the bend when the soft top goes back

I have the same issue and am pretty certain I’ve figured it out. When you flip the top back to the first position, look at whether the top hits a plastic piece with a pinch warning on it. It’s quite thin and sharp. I have this same issue on the passenger’s side of mine. The driver’s side is completely clear. I’m scheduling an appointment next week. The photo without it touching the top is the drivers side.

Yup I've got the same rip aswell. As @EKOBX said it's making contact with a sharp trim piece digging into it. I didn't even notice it until about a week ago. It initially folds back into that position but I adjust the fabric before driving to match the driver side which fixes the issue preventing further ripping.

do you think with that small of tearing we would need to worry about further tearing? I would assume ford isn’t going to be like “oh hears a new soft top”

Personally I don't think so. Once readjusting it doesn't make contact with anything. I'm planning on getting a hardtop eventually so it doesn't bother me enough to go into the dealer for any sort of remedy

I plan to ask for a new top. I’ve had convertibles before and never had an issue like this one. I’d hadn’t just paid $50k for this thing and found others with the same problem I might not make a stink but they should address this for us. It’s not a big deal to readjust but it certainly impacts the convenience factor a bit. Also, I don’t think Ford will want to have hundreds for thousands of people with this same issue. It’s not good for their brand.

yeah I showed it to my father in law who’s a Honda dealer owner and he said absolutely warranty it doesn’t matter how small it is right now. Once I have taken in the car I’ll update this thread

It’s pretty well documented on here I thought. You need to push the soft top flap out so it doesn’t pinch in position 1.

I just closed my top after almost 2 weeks having it down. I just noticed the same problem. You can see the pressure point on the drivers side, but the passenger side did slightly tear.

just for conversation’s sake:

that top panel is roughly $4,000 (plus a significant amount of labor) to replace.

I think the key is to make sure the sides of the soft top are not folded in when the top is all the way back. I visually check both sides after I have flipped it all the way back, just in case.

This is exactly what I do as well as someone had previously posted about the issue. A quick thing to look for is that in the half back position, the canvas should be creating an S shape
