Hey there!

I am considering going from a hard top to a soft top, and I am wondering how that fabric and those soft windows might hold up to having two dogs in the back? My dogs aren't particularly crazy or anything, but it struck me that perhaps having the convertible components (gears, etc) as well as the fabric enclosure just might not be ideal.

Curious how many dog owners here have a soft top, and how it's working out for you. :)

Not really an issue on mine - the doors are where they want to poke their heads out. My taller ones will stare out the back window, but don't try to jump up on it like they door the side doors - probably because the spare tire is kinda in the way in Safari (but if you had a really ambitious dog, it's not much taller than the doors with the windows all the way down). When the top is all the way back it's bunched up back there anyway where they won't really try to get over it - makes it very tall back there.

And they can't really get at the side windows too well because of the C-Pillars being in the way.

As far as the fabric goes, unless you have pet giraffes or something they can't get to the fabric really at all. Type of top really doesn't make a huge difference with dogs.

Mine mostly try to find new and creative ways to puke between the seats.

Here are two of mine - can't really see the soft top here, but it's top up but not all the way rolled back (can still see the rear window installed if you look at the passenger side -- can see the arms and C-Pillars are in the way there from them getting at it.

That's a basset hound (50lb) and an Aussie/AmStaff mix (60lb) in there - for size reference.

Swapped over to a soft top a month ago and it's only been down since.
Couple of trips to the vet and no issues.
If anything, they'll try to maneuver up to the front passenger seat.

Yeah, thankfully our beagles don't do that...my in-laws' miniature Huskies, however...

But yeah, love my dogs, just wish they'd do that stuff outside when they're not feeling well.

Our dogs are too spoiled to sit in the way back.
The second row seats are dedicated to them.

My GSD doesn't mind the back, but it's typically got my gear in the back so he gets to ride in the back seat or passenger seat if he's my only passenger 😄

He'll ride anywhere and be happy, so long as he's there for the ride.

I put some nylon netting on the back, as I run with a Diabolical enclosure.

other than that, my reactive pup does well in the rag top down…

I don’t have a soft top but can offer some advice about dogs in the back: My GSP mix can be a bit reactive to motorcycles as they pass by and she twice ripped out the defroster wires from the rar glass. So now I disconnect the wires and tie them back during the non winter months when the defroster isn’t needed.

The dogs love the soft top, just make sure you get them harnesses that buckle into seatbelts, give you some peace of mind
