Soft top broken tabs

It got me. Shocked at how little
Pressure I put on that corner and
It just popped off. At first I wasn’t sure what had happened, and in trying to investigate, popped off a second …going to try glue to keep it
From flapping out of the in the highway wind for now. If you’re just reading this and haven’t fallen victim, BE CAREFUL!

Mine cracked off yesterday with VERY little pressure applied when pulling on the fabric (I've pulled harder taking the plastic off of a container of sour cream)

They honestly broke off so easily, I thought they may have not been an essential fastener until I realized that the fabric was just hanging off afterward. Very disappointed with the poor design on this.

Seems to me they could have sewn or used industrial fabric adhesive on a patch of some kind and attached fastener tab (think like the D-rings on a stand up paddleboard pictured below)

I'm bringing it into my dealership on Wednesday and am assuming they will fix based on recent posts on this thread. If not, I'm going to try to make my own patch in the SUP style mentioned above. If anyone could point me to something that could be used as a metal version of those little T-shaped tabs that came on the original, it would be much appreciated!

So I took mine to a upholstery shop and it cost me $25 but it’s full functional and way stronger than factory clips.

My dealer service shop called me today telling me they got the rivets in today… I’ll be the guinea pig….

This looks really great and really secure! Looks like a much better fastener than the original solution

Thanks to @flip for posting the screenshot of the TSB earlier in this thread. The tech i spoke to at the dealership told me when he first brought it to his superior that it would not be covered under my warranty, but when he showed him the screenshot I emailed over, they looked it up and found the TSB. If anyone else goes to their dealership, I would recommend showing that as well.

They're going to take at least a week to get the parts in, but they will fix it under warranty. I've got my "grocery getter" 07' Volvo to drive in the meantime if I dont want the fabric flapping in the wind

My sales guy was showing me how to remove the back panels at pickup yesterday and he actually broke the clips with very little force on accident. Glad someone pointed me to this thread for some ideas. Dealer said they are going to try to order a new panel for me but who knows when that will happen. Even if there is user error here, it should not be that easy break like that.

I showed the TSB to the first dealership I went to, denied and quoted $800 fix. Obviously never going back there, and appointment at a different dealer Monday.

learn to take top off! lol. it was my mistake.

I did the same thing. They covered it as a warranty repair but the parts took a few weeks. I used a nut and some washers to hold it closed while waiting for parts. washer and nut on outside and screwed or down.

Glad I didn't attempt this repair myself. When dealer got started, said there was enough breakage they couldn't drill, so they're ordering a whole new window. If I'd tried myself I'd likely be paying for that window.

I'm in the same boat. Took the top off this weekend, didn't notice anything at the time I removed it, but couldn't get it back on properly. Noticed I had 2 broken clips on the top of my back panel on the drivers side. I'll have to take it by the dealers and see what they can do for me. Bright side, had a blast going topless this weekend, just a drag to have to deal with finding a fix for this now.
