Small electronics are not directly affected by a geomagnetic event because the wavelengths are far too long. Of course if your electronics are connected to the grid, and there is a power surge, that's a different story. EMPs delivered by nukes do contain a higher frequency 'shockwave' and will likely destroy smaller electronics.

Roll start. My version
Push start in my case.

I'll add that to have severe EMP effects far beyond the blast zone, the nuke has to be detonated high up in the atmosphere, not near the ground or just a few miles up. This is because the interactions of nuclear radiation (including electrons), the atmosphere, and the Earth's magnetic field changes at high altitudes.

30 km (18 miles) high is when the high-altitude EMP effects start getting severe and affecting a much larger area, like even a state or larger depending on the altitude of the blast.
