Skid plates / front bumper

Hey everyone, apologies for the ignorance on this topic. If I go with a certain aftermarket skid plate, does it matter what front bumper I put on? In other words, do brands need to match up?

With that being said, any recommendations on skid plates or bumpers?

Lobo Off-road has a very nice front skid that works with both factory metal bumpers.

StinkyFab (@StinkBug) has front skids that fit either OEM bumpers. They also have a nice front bumper that's high clearance and lighter than the stock mod bumper.

Some bumper manufacturers do require you to buy their front plate, though. Just depends, you would need to find a bumper first and check it out.

This was two years ago but when I was looking, many of the bumper manufacturers I was interested in knew whether or not their bumpers worked with at least one of the OEM skids (There were two back then, a metal one and the plastic one). They either posted the information on their website or offered it when I contacted them. In other words, since there are different OEM skids, it might work better if you narrow it down to the bumpers you want and reach out to the companies directly.

I decided on a JCR Off-Road bumper, since it met my needs. It would’ve worked with my stock Badlands skid but I ended up also buying a full set of JCR skids.
