We're about to take our first road trip in the Bronco! We plan to have the soft top down most of the trip. In addition to our luggage, we'll have some valuables with us (laptop, camera, Steam Deck, etc.).
What are some practical steps we can take to secure our stuff on a road trip, whether the soft top is up or down?
Once we get to our lodgings, we'll put the top up, install the windows, and don't plan on leaving anything in the Bronco overnight. But I'm thinking more about when we stop for food, gas, or sightseeing. I don't want to worry that someone will see a crime of opportunity and walk off with one of our bags. Or we hit a bump at highway speeds and something flies out.
Would tethering our backpacks to the cargo hooks with a bike lock work? Cargo net? What about those retractable cargo covers? I'm not looking for a full Diabolical security enclosure -- just a modest deterrent that gives me some peace of mind.
