Seat comfort and support Question

Good Afternoon all,

I was wondering what everyone’s opinions are on the Bronco Outer Banks. Is the seat well padded in the middle and comfortable on the bolsters? I’ve test driven it and liked it for the times I’ve driven I’ve liked it but wanted to ask the day to day drivers. I’m not huge but I am a little bigger guy and have a major hip injury due to my last vehicle. (Left side)

I drove from Fresno to Nashville in one shot in that seat. It did take some time to get it adjusted just right, but once I did, it fits like a glove.

As in angle or…? My old car had aggressive bolsters and no lumbar. Put me in the doctors office quite a bit. Now have nerve damage. Starts in back and shoots down leg. Horribly bad on left and moderate on right

It's different for everyone - but for me, the ticket was doing the Seat Jacker mod to tilt the seat back just a bit, then raise the height up considerably higher than I was used to in other vehicles

(Bronco has considerable vertical adjustment in the seat).

I don't have any issues at all with the bolsters - that nor the lumbar are all that agressive. The seat is a bit narrower than, say, an F150 (it's a narrower vehicle, after all). But once I got the seat tilted back a touch and raised up, the lumbar locked right in like a puzzle piece.

Dang I am battling the same thing but it’s my right hip and moderate pain in my left. I find the marine grade vinyl seats in the Everglades to be very comfortable. In fact the most comfortable seat I own my lazy boy is comfortable but getting out of it kills me. The shooting pain down my leg really sucks too. I even bought a teeter inversion table it helps a little, but the Bronco with the seat heaters usually loosens me up.

What’s your view on the seats vs the Explorer ST Line?

Haven't sat in an Explorer since we had 2011, and it wasn’t an ST so hard to answer.

Vs the Explorer we had though - Bronco seats are a touch narrower, have considerably
more vertical adjustment, and are a bit more structured bolster but not as deep of a lumbar


(that’s several years since I sat in an Explorer seat mind you)

Does the bronco cause pain to you? I am looking at the Outer Banks. But let’s just say I had a Ford Maverick and those seats are horrifically bad which caused a lot of my damage and I traded it in for an explorer

Sheepskin seat covers help my sciatica in my MGV Badlands seats. I regularly do 500+ miles between WA and MT without much issue.

Raising the front of my seat with a stack of 3/8 washers helped immensly as well.

Is it this situation where the bolsters are firm or the seat sinks in too deep or what? For me the ST line sinks in in the middle and drills on the side because it’s designed as a sports vehicle to hold you in and it’s rather painful aggravates my injury in my last car

No, the sheepskin adds cushining and support without being too squishy.

After driving Volvos and high spec German cars forever I initially though my brown fabric seats were a joke and started search for aftermarket which resulting in $10K for 2 seats and no airbags and most recently an F series retrofit bracket which would make sense for Raptor seats.

I have to say at 6'2" 224 lb fit the stock seats grip like Velcro so don't miss bolstering and very comfortable even after 7hr stints despite the short seat cushion.

If they were not this grippy fabric that's too rough for girls in bikinis and short skirts (this the satin scarf in passenger door pocket) would have changed them.

Seems like I'll keep them until can gat a bracket that would work with Mustang S550 fabric seats with hopefully side airbag swap.
