I’m curious if anyone has done a road trip with the doors on and how it went for them?

How far is a road trip? I've done 60+ mile trips without doors and top, but really wouldn't want to go any farther.

245 miles :)

For me that is probably farther than I want to go doorless and topless, and I ride a motorcycle most days. The fatigue factor of constant wind and noise adds up. Maybe if I was younger. I think I'd prefer to keep my trips under 100 miles if possible.

I think the great weather combined with the fact that I’m off-roading while there has me considering it even with the negatives in mind. Ooof I may regret it but I think I’m doing it.

Do it!

Only issue could be rain or theft, but otherwise, I'd do it...

No rain (triple checked, of course anything can happen but it’s highly unlikely) and I won’t be leaving anything unattended :)

Biggest issue is leaving them behind and hitting rain. I have driven that many miles easily, but as a roundtrip with no moisture in the forecast. Yes tge sun and buffeting wear you out much more.

So, maybe 4 hours? That would probably be close to my limit. Might be best to go either doors off or top down, but not both.

I drove past a pretty modded Jeep a few weeks ago that looked like they were headed back from a wheeling trip. No doors, Bimini top. Driver and passenger were rocking race headsets so they could actually talk to each other and hear the radio.

I mean, I'm sure we have motorcycle riders here who road trip cross country...

Not me. I did fly out to California for my Slingshot in 2016 and drove it back to Houston. No roof and no doors. It was a blast!

I also have the itch because rainy season is coming and the top and doors won’t be leaving it for many months

You could do front doors only and store them in the back and pack luggage into second row! That’s what I’ve done (but closer to 45 miles to a cabin)

just wrap them well because they will wiggle around no matter how tightyou strap them in

Do it what’s the worse that could happen. Might want to pop in earplugs For wind noise. Do you have the on board bags? You could then take them with you in case your miserable on the way there. No roof doors on windows up is actually pretty quiet

I had a great time driving top down and doors off a few weekends ago…until the longarm followed us home and said next time he sees me on the road this thing better have doors on it.

Fernie RCMP were pleasant but took away our doors-off fun. I really liked it on the pavement.

Off road, I’ve done a half-day top down on very dusty trails. Not recommended - it took a long time to get the filth off virtually everything and everywhere inside the Bronco. Plus, it was hard breathing at times…
