Replacement Door Panels on Backorder

My '23 Outer Banks got hit in the front passenger door in October. Nothing terrible, but dinged the door and front quarter panel a bit and bent the running board down a little.

We got it in for an estimate right away, but they couldn't schedule the fixes until mid-December. The day before we were to take it in, the body shop called and said they had all the parts except the door panel. Ford told them the door panels are on backorder and there's no ETA. Checked again with them last week and still no ETA.

I asked about pulling one off a wreck and they said they'd already checked around with nothing available.

The dings really aren't a big bother, but I do want them fixed. Any ideas on what I might be able to do to move this along?

Can they put yours back on as a temporary fix until the new one comes in?

Nothing has been started. Because of this particular paint color (Hot Pepper Red Metallic), when they paint the door panel, they need to blend the new paint onto the neighboring panels.

They (and probably the insurance company) want to the complete the entire job in one go. It makes sense to me too, as other wear and/or damage could occur before a new door panel shows up, which would mean they'd have to redo some of the work. And really, there's not much upside to fixing the almost invisible dings before fixing the door panel.

Assuming that they ordered back then, I'd guess one of the 2 going to Sacramento could be for you.
Otherwise all you can do is wait if your dealership/ insurance company is not willing to pay extra and buy it from another dealer.

They could go old-school and put a skin on it ! Dealer in Eugene shows in stk.

Paintless dent removal could get it to where you won't be bothered.
