I actually have the opposite issue. I never want recirc, I like the induction of fresh outside air, I live in a clean air area. When it's hot and running AC it will switch on its own to recirc even without setting on Max.

I don’t know if this is a bug or a feature but my recirculate cabin air settings will not stay on recirculate. After a few minutes it just switches off and as soon as I smell whatever smell I was avoiding I have to turn it back on. Is everyone’s Bronco doing this? Lux package btw
And so now, I stead of the SLIGHT possibility of breathing your own exhaust in the car, we have to breathe every ody else's going down the road, PLUS everybody's cigarettes & joints & chicken crap. I can recirculate for 1 minute & instead of watching the road, I stare at the button waiting for the light to turn off so I can switch it back on ASAP over & over again & hope I'm fast enough to keep something else from coming in & being trapped in there with me. Great fix Ford. I used to be your biggest fan...I'm sure that's exactly what it's about. Keeping HVAC on fresh air keeps cabin slightly pressurized so exhaust isn't drawn in around back of vehicle. The problem is worse with square backed vehicles, which most SUVs are. And in today's litigious world, having exhaust odor in the cabin is something an automotive manufacturer can't risk. The Explorer thing was a giant headache for Ford, and it wasn't really that big of a deal. I drove 4 of that body style Explorer for company cars when I was with Ford for over 100K miles all together , and I think I experienced smelling exhaust a grand total of 8 to 10 times after a long, hard acceleration. So, it sounds like they are trying to stop the problem on Broncos before it gets started.
It happens whether you are heating, cooling, have vent or A/C on. It doesn't matter. From what I got from the manual, while heating the vehicle, you're able to trigger this setting on for a limited amount before it goes back to non-recirculating mode to prevent interior fogging. Perhaps it works better with A/C mode?
My hubby's 2022 F250 doesn't turn off unless you have defrost on. We got it 4 months before my Bronco finally arrived.Every Ford does this now. Its not a Bronco only "feature". Highly aggravating. It was an engineering solution to a problem the explorer had with exhaust buildup in the cabin.
I get that randomly. The faster you go, the harder your vents blow. That shows you something isn't right with the whole systemAnyone else have a problem with massive amounts of air coming through the vents on the highway. I will set the fan to the lowest setting, but on the highway air gets forced through so it acts like it's set on med/high.
Tried using recirc to prevent it, but it kept kicking off like everyone else said.
I also have all these issues. It is very NOT ok when the floor vents don't blow or the heat decides it won't go warm when it's 7 degrees outside & my feet are numb before I can get to work. FORD NEEDS TO FIX ALL OF THIS!!I don’t know if this HVAC system is supposed to be the “new normal”, but it is without a doubt the weirdest, most counterintuitive system I’ve ever experienced in a vehicle. I love the Bronco, and I totally get that it has lots of little quirks that the typical passenger sedan/SUV/pickup truck doesn’t have. And I’m fine with most of those.
But come on… Between this recirc issue, and the floor vents that never work properly (if at all), the fan speed that varies between “high” and “Category 4 hurricane”, the temp settings that blow cold air out when you set it to 75° and it’s 60° outside… It’s unbelievable.
So like everything else in this cry baby world, one idiot screwed it up for everybody elseI'm sure that's exactly what it's about. Keeping HVAC on fresh air keeps cabin slightly pressurized so exhaust isn't drawn in around back of vehicle. The problem is worse with square backed vehicles, which most SUVs are. AMEN! if someone is too stupid to try to get rid of exhaust inside the car, THEY are the problem. Ford needs to stop forcing us to choke on everything else. Guess who's getting sued if I wreck or die from having an asthma attack from not being able to block out things that cause me problems? This recirc thing is driving me crazy. Ford, I’m an adult. If I turn it off I want it off!!! If I turn it on I want in on!!! Don’t try to think for me.
So, how do I turn of the Big Brother feature of the Bronco?
Cuz it’s a truck. I should of said every Ford suv. Anything with a cabin pressure vent near the exhaust. My hubby's 2022 F250 doesn't turn off unless you have defrost on. We got it 4 months before my Bronco finally arrived.
It may be only on square-backed SUVs, that body style creates a low pressure area around the back of the vehicle while driving, that can cause exhaust to be pulled n through the cabin vents under the body at the rear. Leaving the climate control in the fresh air mode causes the cabin to be slightly pressurized preventing exhaust from being drawn in. Pickups don't have the problem, the exhaust exits under the bed, not the cab.My hubby's 2022 F250 doesn't turn off unless you have defrost on. We got it 4 months before my Bronco finally arrived.
This was only true for me if the outside air was above 60 degrees. I've had the A/C on at a warm temperature on the floor or face vents to help keep everything from fogging up. I avoid the defrost vents unless absolutely necessary. I need the heat (when it works) only blowing where it can keep me warm. When you actually need it, you can't get it to blow hard enough even when focused on one area.It stays on when you have the A\C on. If you turn A\C off then recirc will shut off after a couple of minutes.
Yeah, try getting trapped in a drive thru line behind an older diesel, or someone smoking & you can't get away to save your life. They'll find someone dead in a drive thru line one day with everybody honking & wonder what happened. I think I'll make a sign to keep in my vehicle.... "If you find me dead in my Bronco, it's not from my own exhaust. It's from everything else that I was forced to breathe because I couldn't hit the recirculate button again fast enough". I wish I still had my Range Rover. I had to do it every time I restarted the car, but at least I could push & hold the button for a few seconds & it would stay on as long as you didn't turn defrost on.I was experiencing this stupid phenomenon this weekend. Went on a weekend get away with the family and there happened to be a crap ton of skunks in the area.
Stupid recirculating kept turning itself back off. It would go longer than 1 minute, but not stay on.
Did some brief research, and started finding out about how this is all designed, how it measures the humidity, bunch of BS.
The only fix I read about was a guy on a F-150 forum who actually installed a toggle switch to cut the power from the blend door.
So he would turn the recirc on, then flip the switch and the vehicle couldn't reopen the door.
I can't imagine people living in highly smog cities that get stuck behind diesel trucks for an hour during their morning commute!
