hey all! been thinking about tuning my bronco since upsizing wheels and saw that Levittown Ford has the procal tune for only ~$444. Is this legit? Here’s the listing: https://www.levittownfordparts.com/sku/m-12655-f.html

Seems like a massive discount as they usually run around $6-700. Would jump on it if people can confirm that this is all I need, thanks!

I’ve always believed that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. It appears that is the calibration tool only. According to their description:
” calibration sold separately.”

I think I misunderstood the instructions—I was under the impression that you make an account and download the performance calibration onto the device for free. Thank you!

Well, if you purchase the Performance Tune package - it's included with that.

The tool, by itself, it just a basic ODB2 code reader / information viewer / data logger. You would see where it can install the tune, but it won't have the tune files on it out of the box - you have to download those via your Ford Performance account.

The tune is just a voucher code in with that tool ~ if you purchase the P/N that has the tune. You log into your Ford Performance account, enter the voucher number, and it will upload the As-Built files from your vehicle. That locks the tune to both your FP account and your VIN, and then it lets you download the appropriate tune files onto the tool. You need both of those things to line up to re-download/re-install the tune later on if you ever needed to.

If you just purchase the tool (this particular P/N) - that's if you lost/broke your tool but otherwise already had the tune on your Ford Performance account, and it was linked to your particular VIN.

this is super informative, thank you! renaming the title of the thread so it doesn’t attract as much attention lol…

I should say - the P/N without the tune would also be good if you were upgrading the steering rack or FDU - as both of those require this tool as well. The Steering Rack comes with it's own voucher code and doesn't necessarily require the Performance tune. Not sure if the FDU does as well, it seems to piggy back with the Performance Tune so it may require the full tune
