The entire area is literally completely passable without even using 4x4 except the one rock they managed to roll over and high-center on.

I absolutely think to myself "I could go over that" if I see something interesting or even resembling an off road obstacle.

Nope. The Jeep owner saw rocks on the side of the trail and decided to go over them. Got held up on the drive shaft and front control arms. Could not move with lockers engaged.
I would comment, that in the future, the passengers should have been removed from the Jeep. If there was a rope or shackle failure....they could risk injury. No one should be "in-line" with a tow rope or winch cable. Thank you for helping out a fellow 4X4 !I can’t believe no one has commented yet on my school bus yellow matching kinetic recovery rope.

If you don't see a problem with driving off the established trail you might be part of the problem.
Maybe that one spent a lot of time around TJs and picked up the need to unalive itself?

They were not driving accross a wetland, or high alpine meadow, or some other protected environment that takes a millennia to recover and repair. They deviated a foot and a half onto the shoulder of the trail to mount a small rock. This is not even close to a problem. Get a grip you pety tyrant.
Fair point, I guess everyone's interpretation of tread lightly is different. But in my experience a foot and a half deviation leads to another guys foot and a half which leads to another guys foot and a half and the problem escalates. Seems more worth while finding actual trail obstacles.
