I know we’ve all noticed the increasing vagueness on production dates for the Bronco. However, some of the current language really leaves them open for further delays.

Ford Bronco Production date vagueness 1598707775682

Some of the language that caught my eye was:
Initial Bronco 2 and 4-door deliveries are targeted to begin in June 2021
You will be able to complete your configuration in late 2020. Production nears in spring 2021.
  • Odd they target June, but can’t guarantee it.
  • Configuration: late December at top of page, late 2020 at bottom. I would assume configuring your vehicle would have a set date by now. B&P delays?
  • The big one. Production nears in spring 2021. That leaves them open for a summer production start.
This isn’t a complaint. It’s gonna be ready when it’s ready. However, don’t be surprised if the first Bronco is hand carried out of the factory on June 30th by Bill Ford himself. ?

My feeling is that the next update will list July somewhere in the text.

Yep, the whole industry is just spitballin' at this point. They're going to start figuring out some nomenclature to add to these outdated model years: the 2021 Bronco "Classic" (coming Spring 2022).

I think they string you along so you don't buy something else before it comes out. Which isn't a complaint, just marketing

This is completely normal
The problem is Covid-19 is not normal. Im not going to lie this worries me. Especially being that I sold my Ram 1500 and I'm pretty much hitch hiking right now. ?

Looks like you’re now caught up with the rest of us from 6 weeks ago. ?
I knew about the evolving language. It just hit me how open ended they actually made it.

Agree, that’s corporate language for you. I’m guessing that everything will be fine, on time......

Lots of things can still change before then and now. I'm sure they're cranking up as fast as they can and I'm sure if they could be selling right now they would. Implementing tooling, automation, workforce training, etc. in addition to building up their supply chain, doing your alpha/beta runs and etc. take time, lots of time. I'm sure they also want to release something that has been vetted (with actual production components, not prototypes) and in order to do that there could be delays. This is the normal process for getting an assembly line up and running in non-covid times. With covid I'm sure it's only made this process more difficult to nail down timing on.

It may be hard to believe but Ford might be more upset than you if it has to delay launch. There's a lot of potential to miss sales and push off sales with delays. Earlier or on schedule is always better, just not always possible.

Nothing is certain when we’ve got a political party itching to implement more shutdowns. Ford is just using language that keeps this in mind.

I was thinking of all of the parts that are new with this being a brand new vehicle. All of this means new castings, molds, tooling and the suppliers working like crazy to ramp up. I can only imagine the percentage of parts that don't meet the standard. I try to keep in mind that there are a lot of people working really hard to bring this vehicle to production for my enjoyment and that helps keep me calm while I wait.

Its best practice for them not to set a concrete date to avoid any disappointment.

Figure you have this flood of reservations but cant determine yet how many will be sales and who will refund. Based on that, some people get bumped up in line.

There's also a pandemic which I'm sure will affect production to a degree. Furthermore, they still seem to be doing quite a bit of testing. I'm also sure they're wanting to maximize sales in all areas so maybe a slight delay so accessories can be widely available. Everyone is excited when they get a new car so why not try and flood them with options day of. Wouldn't surprise me to see specials on addons "if you buy day of deliver" or something. Me personally, I want to put as much down as possible so I wouldnt even mind an August Delivery date.

Look how much everyone is losing their minds over a B&P tool. You think Ford is going to guarantee anything right now with the world how it is? I’m surprised they’re even sticking to anything.

We could say it's 2021c Bronco, then skip the 2022 all together, bring out the 2023 at the normal time, including the Rapter version. Then everyone will be happy, no persons will be sad that they had to pay full price + 6 months of depreciation to own a modern SUV. ;-)
