Question for anybody who has had their Hardtop painted. How much did it cost to have it color matched to your truck? Just trying to get an idea of what people are paying. I was quoted 2000 to have the two door Hardtop painted Oxford White here in North GA.

Have you considered vinyl wrap for the top? I recall a few people around here had reasonable success wrapping their MIC tops with white vinyl.

I personally wouldn't paint a MIC either given all the issues. Wrap it or just put the couple grand you saved towards a Armadillo top in my opinion.

I know if my top gives out after my bumper to bumper warranty is up, no way in hell I'm going to get another Ford top.

You might want to check the price of using a truck bed liner instead of paint, as it comes in different colors, and I know they have white.

That cost isn't out of line really.
I just found this thread where @Fly by Nite mentioned me (Thanks for that!).
Personally I could beat it by a few hundred, at most.
All paint and materials costs are up about double from just a decade ago.
Not sure if you are going to buy that already-painted one you mentioned or still entertaining getting yours done.
Either way if a local reputable shop quoted $2K, you're not getting beat up on price too badly.
Anyone quoting higher is trying to hose you or pricing it at the "I don't really want to do it but I will if you are willing to pay" price.

FWIW also the correct process involves sanding the surface, applying a good epoxy primer, then filler primer.
Sanding down that filler primer until smooth,
Applying a sealer coat then a few coats of base, then a few coats of clear.
A "textured" finish like a bedliner would help hide flaws, waves, etc.

Plus they replaced all the seals on mine...

This past Easter, I was on a trip and we were heading to pick up our rental car. As we drove by some of the rental lots, I noticed one of them had a bunch of Broncos with painted tops.

It got me thinking, I could probably swap my MIC top for one of those painted ones and no one would even notice the difference! It seriously had me thinking hard about it. But my brother in law and I were cracking up at the idea, they’d be completely clueless.

He mentioned he previously paid around $2,400 to have his Jeep top painted. This is in SoCal, so I’m not surprised it’s a little higher.
