Posted some of these a few times in various places but always a favorite of mine.
30 hours to Moab. And that's the fastest, direct route, which we did not take because, well, adventure.
We chose to do Rte. 66, visit a ton of small towns, stay in Winslow, see the Grand Canyon (however it was a quick and short visit to the South Rim because we were meeting others in Moab and we might have meandered a bit too much on the prior days).
The trip back home was the quick 30-hour route across I-70. After the descent out of the Rockies there was nothing to see of particular interest the remainder of the trip. We crossed some states off of our "visited" list, and the only real landmark (St. Louis Archway) was shrouded in rain clouds.
But these are a few of hundreds of views/experiences that supercharged my desire to explore and made all of those fatigued road miles well worth it.
So much so that we are doing it again next summer, and adding many more miles to it. This time all the way to the other ocean and up that coast for a while.
You know it's a LOOOONG trip when you are going to have to factor in an oil change and tire rotation at some point before you get back home.

That's amazing. The power you get from your journey.
