Plastic VS. Steel Rear bumper

B/P should answer more of these questions. If I stay at the Big Bend, even though I want the steel bumper, I might stay with the plastic as it includes the fog lights (integrated wiring on the console). When the plastic invariably needs to be replaced, I could then get the steel and retrofit new fog lamps to use the wiring harness. My OCD is triggered to see an empty dummy switch where the fog lights would be if I opted for the steel from the factory.

This is sort of my issue too. If you get the Wildtrak but upgrade to the steel bumper, what happens to your fog lights? Is the harness and button still there? What about on the Badlands? Do you have a harness and button for fog lights? If you lose your button and harness I guess you'll have to rig some lighting through the Aux switches and run your own wiring? This is a question that I don't think will be answered in the B&P. Need some answers.

I am likely looking for an A/M rear bumper/hitch as swap 1, so whatever is cheaper. Still on the fence on modular front. I don’t like the winch integration they showed on the prototypes.

Yeah that front bumper is really one of the largest unknowns. Most other questions boil down to what option can be had with which trim...but that bumper...it is almost as mysterious as what color CG really is

I am leaning towards the Wildtrak because I would update the Badlands to the 2.7 and squach. The first purchase I made when I had a Jeep LJ was to replace the bumber with a tire/fuel can carrier. taking the tire off the rear door. Most likely I will do this again once the aftermarket catches up. This way I do not have to throw away a perfectly good bumper. Also the rails on the badlands could be a little wider on the squach version. They look to be perfect for the 33".

I was going to post this exact same graphic. It does seem to imply the rear steel is included with the modular front. I also suspect that including a rear steel bumper with the mod front bumper is why the price is so crazy high for the mod front (at least that is what I am hoping).

That's what I figured since nowhere on the Ford site does it talk about the rear bumper separate from the front. My guess is that you get both which would be awesome cause I can get them with the base then

The plastic bumper looks like junk. Apparently, there is no way to get a perfect Bronco. Each trim leaves something to be desired. However, that being said, rear bumper is pretty far down my priority list.

In the Jeep world do the aftermarket units have the provisions for the sensors?

Maybe on the J series. I have a 2006 Commander and it has back up sensors. My 2004 TJ just has a honkin' piece of steel for the rear bumper.

I was dissapointed in the pre-production model. There are too many mismatched colors and the black plastic door handles are rediculous on a $55k vehicle. I think thought it would look more expensive.


The list of mismatched materials and parts:

Black plastic door handles and fenders
Light gray plastic top
Dark grey plastic grille
Black steel bumpers
Black painted aluminum wheels

I've honestly never seen a vehicle that's a hodge-podge like that.

The WildTrak looks much better:

Body color door handles
Black painted top and grille
Black plastic bumpers and fenders
Black painted aluminum wheels

I think the Badlands looks way better than the Wildtrack. Gray top, gray (metal) grille, and gray wheels look great together. I prefer them to the painted modular top and shiny black grille and mirrors.
