We became Bronco owners on November 24th. It's also the first Ford we have owned. When we saw it, we decided to name it Night Horse. The reason is because at night, the Hot Pepper Red literally disappears into the darkness. Night Horse is a used vehicle with highway miles and has the Badlands / Sasquatch / Lux packages. So far, we have been busy planning our first mods but the first thing we did was add new tires. We went with Falken Wildpeak AT3's in a C-load rating.
Tire Update: After using the Wildpeaks for a few weeks, they are noticeably better than the stock Goodyear's.. quieter, better ride, and more stable. Granted the originals had 27k on them, but still worth noting.
It's been interesting reading through the Bronco6G forums so far and we look forward to more. Thank you for allowing us to join.
January 5, 2024 Update: So far, after the tire upgrade, I added the IAG Aluminum Multilevel Tailgate Table. It is a very good table but I did need to do a few simple mods to it to get it to stay quiet off-road. I added a few bits of felt and now it's rock solid.
Next was a small mod to the Bronco Security Drawer in the back. I added plywood and carpet to the top to reinforce the top of the metal drawer so it can take more weight. I also added 2 more d-rings while I was at it. This will help secure our Ecoflow Glacier refrigerator and other camping gear.
Also purchased the MORRFlate 4-tire hose kit and TenSix compressor. This sure makes airing up and down a breeze. Our experience is that it inflates all four tires from 20lbs to 33 lbs in about 3 minutes.
Next, I blacked out the visor warning lables with StickerFab covers. I do this to all my vehicles.
Then, I added Dynamat to the rear floor and sides to 100% eliminate the rattle from the subwoofer. I also had spare clips handy and replaced most of those with upgraded tighter ones. The stereo quality improved quite a bit and there are no rattles from back there.
Next I addressed the lights and front end looks. I went with Morimoto lights in the front and wired the main SAE driving light to a new OEM fog light switch (had to purchase and install, then use Forscan to program it). The two inner lights I wired to Aux #6. Overall with all six lights running plus the high beams, it is hilariously bright. I may add ditch lights later. Then, because I like the looks of the Raptor front lower valances, I added those as well. I just bought those parts from the Ford dealer and installed them.
February 23, 2024 Update: We have now been off-road several times in Night Horse in the Cohutta / Ocoee wilderness areas in East TN and NE Georgia. No issues so far. We've added a few camping and cooking items to the list of things we bring and have enjoyed our experiences so far.
The best news was finding out that Night Horse qualified for the Ford Extended Warranty, so we purchased the 10yr/100k plan thanks to Zach at Granger Ford.
JUNE 8, 2024: Today we added the Mountains2Metal's Flip Down Attic Shelf. Overall it was a great addition to Night Horse. We were able to add things up there that we previously had in the security drawer and it does not interfere with the rearward view. In the months that have followed after installing this, it has begun to exhibit rattle a little from the two points where the tray slides into the mounts. I have since disassembled it and reinstalled it using some grease in the mounts and readjusted things from earlier. It's better now, but still not 100% quiet.
September 2024: The latest addition to NightHorse is an IAG mini bull bar with 24" LED light. I did this mainly for aesthetics because I like the look. Both were super easy to install. I placed it on switch #1 (30 amp) just to be safe, although there are obviously other ways to wire it. While I was installing this, I also installed a "grill insert" for the bumper that you can see between the tow hooks. I'm still debating a full bumper/winch install, but where we offroad, I'm not 100% sold on needing that.
November 24, 2024: Night Horse has been with us one year now. So far, no real issues to speak of. However, I have noticed some quirks. I've managed to stop most of the rattles from the subwoofer and quieted the hardtop wind noise by adding some additional weather-stripping; The Falken tires are holding up fine; I've experienced the surge when manually downshifting, but I've learned to apply the brakes at the same time and all is fine; I've heard some other odd rare harsh clunking noises when shifting offroad, but no ill effects. I've also changed the driveline fluids (not the transmission) and spark plugs. Changing the plugs did smooth out a tiny rough idle when cold. Overall, Night Horse has been a good addition and has been fun.
October 10, 2025: We added the Bilstein 8112 suspension to Night Horse.
First, I can definately see the increased lift. I went 1.4" in the front and 0.8" in the rear.
While I would not call the ride "cloud like", it does make a difference. Aired up, it felt more controlled and smoother on the streets with less brake dive, but offroad, it was still somewhat harsh in some sections, although noticeably improved.
Aired down, I ran the trails much faster than I would normally do and intentionally hit as many potholes as I could find, tried some heavily rocked roads, and tested some washouts and ditches for articulation. My first impressions are that the suspension feels like its glued more to the surface, smoothes out the rough edges, but seems to articulate about the same as stock. I was able to hussle down a rocked road much faster and still felt easily in control. It was sometimes comical to run over certain sections that I would have cringed at before... now it was pillowy. My only minor gripe is that I did hear the slight clanking noise from the JCO only under the most edged deep impacts, but not from milder ones.
