I checked Ford Pass. The Check Engine Light says Fuel Cap issue but Bronco does not have Fuel Cap. Is it a false positive error?

Anybody know approximate build dates for these turbo failures? There are at least 3 from my build week which was 1/24 and Ice Mountain Bronco’s.

I wondered this too. This seems to be something new for the 2.3 engine.

Agree and I’m still waiting on mine from that same build week. Maybe it’s because they sat out so long. My rig went from picked to paired convoy wise and the back on hold so maybe it went out loading onto the transport. All I know is it’s super frustrating being built since 3/6 and looked like it would finally ship to back on hold. If I finally get it and it fails immediately I’ll be a even more aggravated.

That is so frustrating. I hope you get it soon and with no issues!

Similar story. We finally picked up our 2022 Bronco 2 door Badlands 2.7 Lux (build date 6/30/2022) at the dealership on Saturday, only to get 2 dreaded warnings within an hour of driving it off the lot. First, the wrench popped up with "Power Train Malfunction" and second, the Check Engine light with "Turbo Charger Wastegate may be stuck closed." Drove back to the dealer and are waiting on a diagnosis ***when they can get to us*** We had the car less than a day. Anyone else with a summer build date encounter this issue? .

This was my biggest fear before picking up my Bronco (2022 2.3l manual) end of July. Just returned from a round trip MN-AZ. 4,000 miles later and all is working well, but, I still worry about this happening. Knock on wood, crossed fingers,… we shouldn’t have to sweat these things, crazy. I know, new release, blah blah. I don’t think this is new technology here. That’s my rant.

Edit: build week was 6/13/22.

It seems like the 2.3L turbo issue happens within the first 100 miles or so. I won't say it is an old issue but it isn't exactly new. No one has really been tracking it like the 2.7L valve issue because it doesn't seem to be wide spread but there have been more than a few folks with the issue.

Good luck to those that are dealing with it. I'm a bit over 1400 miles on the clock and loving the 2.3L.

UPDATE: Service ran a 38 point diagnostic. Was indeed a problem with wastegate and needs a new Actuator. Part is special order and won't be ready for a month, so probably 6 weeks out from repair. Was told to take Bronco home and drive it with no worries (yeah right, no worries...). It seems to be driving fine for now. Was told if we get flashing service light to have it towed in, but that scenario was highly unlikely.

I had the very same issue bro 29 miles wastegate stuck closed check engine light. First they said it was a valve ordered it and then when the mechanic went to replace it he noticed one of my turbos(2.7) did not spin freely and so had to replace it. My mechanic brother said for new turbos they would have to prime it before starting or else they get starved of oil and break so I’m thinking they did not do that in the factory. Have 600 miles now and so far so good.
