A nicely loaded BL Sas with lux package is about $71K on the build site
Image 25.jpeg

a nicely loaded trail version of the GX (Overtrail) on the build site was $91K
Image 26.jpeg

pretty clear by the background animation in the photos what these two vehichles are marketing towards....

Get the Bronco
I love my Bronco but $71K is nuts. Vehicle prices have jumped the shark.

I was hoping the USA would get some foreign vehicles aimed more at economy to bring things down to earth, but with recent protectionist measures we all might be stuck with loaded vehicles and higher prices for a while.

there are many different price points for the Bronco....Not too many other vehicles with a price range from $39K to over $100K for the same model year name plate.

There is one for almost every budget....brilliant marketing.

Also, there is a healthy used market these days where you can get a couple year old nicely loaded low mile Big Bend with Sasquatch package for even less than a bare bones $39K base model.

That's what I just did

$71k for a Ford Bronco is like paying $100 for a grilled cheese sandwich. It doesn’t make any sense. That’s luxury vehicle/prime rib money and the Ford Bronco is not a luxury vehicle, no matter how much everyone here loves their Bronco.

Especially if Bronco keeps selling in reasonable numbers, there should be a decent used budget market in a few years, in particular a lot of Sas vehicles hardly if ever having gone off-road. Maybe once they get down into the $20k range.

In my view the current prices are still too high, a person can get into a new Wrangler for around $5500 less than a new Bronco. I paid under $30k for my new Bronco and the point of entry has gone up nearly $10k.

Agreed Ford is smart figuring out ways to get people to pay $50k+ for Broncos.

In my opinion it's simple. Based on your needs...

You want a quiet refined ride get the GX, at this price point, you will feel almost cheated that the Bronco is as far from luxury as it is.

BUT, if you love the look of the Bronco, the feel of the Bronco, the ability to take the top off in beautiful weather, the ability to customize it to your liking and needs, there is nothing better than the Bronco.

I absolutely 100% love my Bronco, and I'm probably never going to give it up. But it's not without it's sacrifices, everything in life is about tradeoffs. You can't have everything in one vehicle, so decide what you really want and the decision is easy.

If you have a manual, it just reduces throttle response. If you have an automatic it does that and modifies shift points for optimum mileage instead of responsiveness or performance.
...
Yeah, I did notice the Bronco was a bit sluggish, but I was on the highway in cruise control most of the time.

...
My Bronco's computer is pretty accurate, but only after I calibrated it. Here's the thread. You have to go into engineering test mode and adjust the AFE (Actural Fuel Economy) bias.

I adjusted mine back in October 2024. When I drove to LV for
...
I will try doing this on the next tank refill. Thanks for providing the details on how to recalibrate the AFE.

Don't do it until you've kept a log for several tankfuls, the more the better. The more tankfuls, the more accurate the adjustment. The more miles driven, the lower the margin of error. A thousand miles should be good.

I started keeping track of gas purchases and miles driven since I bought my Bronco. So I just added up all the gas I bought and divided that into total miles driven. So mine is pretty accurate.

I left my total mpg display alone since I bought my Bronco. But you could also decide to use the trip odometer 1 or trip odometer 2. Just set the one you select to zero next fill up. Then don't touch it the next few tank fulls or thousand miles. Then use that mpg number when doing your calculation.

Okay.
I just filled the tank earlier tonight and reset the trip meter.
I complete the first 2.4 miles of a thousand as I parked in the driveway.

FYI my calculation came out to 934. I imagine most will be close to that depending on trim, etc.

If you think the GX is just a pavement queen, you should look again. It’s a legit off road suv. At least the overtrail. I am most interested in the form factor of these vehicles for my needs. My 16 4 runner was to me the perfect vehicle at the time. The new 4runner is ugly and a no go with a 4cyl. The Land Cruiser is a great design package, but the hybrid is a hard no along with the tiny fuel tank and again 4cyl. Bronco is a great form factor, great engine and drivetrain, but honestly the removable top doesn’t matter. I had a beautiful 911 cab and I rarely put the top down. I don’t like sunroofs and don’t open them. Even in my jeeps I almost never took the top off, and when I did, I put a bimini on. I don’t like the sun beating on my bald head!
GX overtrail is about $74k. Bronco built as I want it is around $70k. If ford built a 4 door suv out of the ranger platform, that would be my vehicle.
I don’t buy used vehicles like broncos, too many unpredictables. Braptor is unbelievably ugly to me, not interested. So that is how I end up here. Bronco is readily available, Gx is not.

Based on this, the Bronco has less value to you, the only other option might be the Ranger Raptor, it's a pickup, but you can cover the bed and it's a very capable vehicle.
