Heading to the NH Roadeo in June. I’d love to car camp in my Bronco. Is there a place I can do that on location? Is there anywhere nearby you would recommend? It’s a long drive for me, would like to go low cost.
What part of June? It can make a big difference.
June 8-16 is motorcycle week which will make things much harder to come by.

Oh boy. June 7th. I might have to find a campground or something a bit of a drive away.

Looks like it has been a mild winter for you all. When does off rodeo start again? I check the gunstock web site about every day for the weather and webcams. Might have to get back up that way when we can fit it in. We stayed in Tilton, about 20ish minutes south over Labor Day. I think they have a big last hurrah bike ride as well. Seemed to have plenty of room at our holiday inn express.

I just took delivery of my OBX last week and got verified on Off-Rodeo.
I was hoping to go in Oct., but it looks like they are only scheduling out to Sep. I will probably book for Friday, 5 Sep. I only live 45min away, so lodging isn't an issue.

I’m going to spend a few extra days in the area after the Roadeo. Not looking for serious offroad trails but any scenic dirt or gravel you would recommend in the area?

Great info all. My wife is looking forward to Bay Gulls, I’m looking forward to the wheeling tomorrow!
Anyone else from the forum booked for tomorrow 6/28?

Just booked Friday, Oct 4th. Should be peak leaf season. Anyone know of free camping locally besides going all the way to the white mountains? Based on past trips to NH, free camping is nearly nonexistent but worth asking.

Anyone who is pretty experienced wheeling do this and found it valuable? I wanted to go and bring my wife so she can drive and learn better without me being the one guiding her. She can't go now this year because of scheduling issues but I figure I at least wanna shoot up there and get the experience of it all even if I don't feel I will learn a ton. I think the only things that will benefit me is playing with the trail control and turn assist more. So far when wheeling the Bronco I haven't needed them much but I also haven't done any rock gardens with that rig yet like I do with my other one at Rausch.

I have a couple decades of wheeling and attended offrodeo in October 2022. I found it to be fun, but I didn’t really learn anything. My wife was able to get a bunch of seat time, so the experience was worthwhile. It’s a nice location and a good program, worth going regardless.

Yeah at the very least I get to go wheeling in a place that I likely will never be allowed to wheel otherwise especially in the north east 🤣

I’ve done a trip close to that area before exploring class 6 roads and it was some awesome terrain and an epic trip. Also taking the fam up there in 2 weeks for some hiking and we are going to check Jericho out for half a day.

Unfortunately not a whole lot of free camping unless you go to either White Mountains or Green Mountains—both of which are pretty far away from the Off-Roadeo itself. Bunch of lower cost options, including the many state parks, but very few free.

I'm fairly experienced—definitely not a professional, but I've been off-roading since before I got my license—and I still found it to be a lot of fun. The first third of the day is more of a "outside classroom" where you learn the basics, and that was all review for me. You'd think that would be pretty boring, but honestly I had a ton of fun watching other people's reactions.

After the classroom instruction, they have you go out with ~6-8 other Broncos and an instructor. The instructor put me in the lead Bronco since I was solo, had experience, and could help spot people behind me. If you attend Off-Roadeo with someone else or with a group of people, they encourage the people within that group to spot themselves. But obviously most people are brand new to off-roading and weren't particularly great at spotting. At the beginning of the day everyone was pretty timid and unsure of their own spotting/driving abilities, so I helped out quite a bit on the smaller obstacles while the instructor focused on the larger & more complicated obstacles. By the end of the day I didn't have to do much—most of the groups were self-sufficient.

All-in-all... was a good day—I think you'll enjoy it.

Awesome, I do agree that there is something really enjoyable about people getting into the hobby and learning the ropes/learning a vehicles capability for the first time. I always loved seeing friends reactions when I let them ride along at Rausch.

Experienced Bronco Off-Rodeo on July 6th. What an awesome experience! Really helped to learn what the Bronco is capable of off-road. Goldie was our guide and did an awesome job spotting us through all the terrain. Here's a quick video of what to expect.
