I am going to install a Bad Lands 12000 lbs. winch on a Modular bumper, no front camera or other electronics. I have the universal mounting plate. Is this project going still require the bumper to come off ? Now I am off to search the inter web for videos.

If you are just mounting a generic mounting plate up, it's possible to do it without dropping the bumper, but if you try to do that, you will probably wish you had just dropped it.

If you do frame horn reinforcements, attempting a hidden winch mount, or replace the recovery points with the winch mount you will have to drop it.

It's really not hard to drop and put back on - especially if you have a hydraulic lift table or an extra set of hands, it's just 6 bolts (and whatever sensors/lights you have).

when i installed my winch, you get an even better view of the frame horns that you're relying out.

I would not have felt comfortable using my winch in anything but a light to maybe moderate pull if I hadnt added the frame horn reinforcements.

frame horn reinforcements are a drop in the bucket!
and much cheaper than trying to go without them and needing to repair the frame after the fact

I do like M2M products - I don't have their winch but I have some other items. It's a good shop

I never understood the term until the kids were out of the house and it was paid off, very strange life style adjustment.
